Just curious, is 5W40 safe to use in the Mississippi summer heat?

JD's syn is 0w40...I'll quote JD's lit (from the link I posted above)

"Synthetic base stock with the Plus-50 additives provide excellent performance in a temperature range of -40°F to 122°F (-40°C to 50°C)"

tks spud, I have a 5203 also and I am getting ready to change the oil. This whole thread and your info has been very helpful. In my 5203 owner's manual, the temp range listed that best fits my area is 10W40. I am going with dino this time (170 hours) but plan to switch to synthetic probably next change.
