John Deere Oil Filter Changes

I'm sure Deere would be more than happy to sell you a new $100+ green filter wrench for that smaller filter, and I wouldn't be surprised if that was the whole purpose behind the change.
??? Who on earth buys their filter wrenches from John Deere? You really don't understand the business of manufacturing, if you actually think they'd change filter manufacturer's across their entire product line, to sell a few filter wrenches.

Changes like this are usually instigated by a combination of several factors:

1. Current CM is presenting quality problems
2. Current CM is not able to keep up with deliveries, either in schedule or volume
3. New CM can offer a price that is so vastly better, that re-specifying and re-testing all of their filters under a new CM is actually worth the time and expense.
4. External forces such as tariffs or global conflict made the old CM less attractive or feasible than they once were
