John Deere 5425 tractor

I have a problem , when i turn key on to start tractor ,the dash instrument panel lights take afew seconds to come on and then when attempting to complete the starting process by further turning the key ,the starter will fail to engage and all the instrument lights will go out does anybody out there have a clue to what is causing this malfunction?

I suggest you post your question over in the John Deere forum. Along with some other information is this an open-station or cab tractor. What you found out from having the battery tested. Has anything occurred before this happened and any tests you have already done.

Sounds like a bad battery connection... Remove, clean, spray protectant/battery sealant, tighten and give 'er a go!

Have the battery load tested. Bad battery or bad connection

Sounds like bad ground connection as stated above. Clean battery terminals are something people tend to over look when general up keep is being done. Good luck!
