after loaning tractor out it came back with steering jerky and loader wont raise need help

sounds like a relief valve poped some were check the presser from the lines and your oil level good luck ...ps you got to love lending your stuff

The 4500 has a "common" oil sump but uses two pumps: one for steering, one for the other hydraulics. With problems in both systems, I would suspect a problem in the suction line: a clogged strainer or possibly a collapsed line. That line runs from the pumps (near the front of the engine) down to the strainer (in lower front of the transmission sump).

Yes, that is what I would expect, too. There is a good chance the user hit the main oil
suction line underneath the tractor and punctured or pinched it.

I think I will adopt that line of thought. Although I am pretty picky of who leaves the yard with what. The sad part is they expect to use everything for nothing. They must think I pick diesel fuel off the apple tree.

Had a "friend" barrow a chainsaw. He ran out of gas mix so he finished up with pure gas. That was when I learned not to loan out things and how to rebuild a chainsaw engine.
