John Deere 2305
Hi there, I own a John Deere 2305. I can't seem to figure out how to use the float position. Its not in my owners manual or in my 200cx loader manual. If you could tell me how to use it that would be great.

Thanks:)

Just press the lever forward quickly. at the most forward motion you should fell a slight indent (or catch) Thats the float position

have fun and be safe !!!

Welcome to TBN:D

I assure you, its there! The most common problem is new users are afraid to push the joystick forward fast enough and hard enough to engage it. I little lube on the linkages may help also.

The best way to practice to keep from doing wheelies is to raise the loader off the ground about 3 feet and try to engage it, when it goes in the joystick will stay forward and the bucket will settle to the ground. In time it will become second nature.

Thank you everyone for the help. I just went outside and realized how to use the float position. Hopefully it should help me the next time we get some snow instead of the loader digging into the driveway and getting lots of gravel.

Thanks Again:)

If you have gravel, it behooves you to use the float and tilt the loader back a little so that the cutting edge doesn't plow the gravel.
There was a suggestion from a Michigan tractor user that is worth thinking about. He says that in his neighborhood the snow doesn't quite melt during the winter. He has a practice of not plowing the first snow, or driving on it either. He wants it to melt a bit and cement the gravel stones. If he does have to drive on it, he backdrags the driveway to smooth it out.

Hi everyone:

I first found out about the float feature on the 2305 here. I was excited to find the advise to be accurate. My Salesperson told me the 2305 did not have a float feature.

The amazing part is I almost bought an X749 because the X749 literature and my Salesperson said the X749 had a float feature. I have yet to find any 2305 literature that mentions the float feature.

Maybe it's magic. If you post it on tractorbynet.com it happens?

2305 has 3PH Positional Control or some way to adjust the up speed.

Sorry to say it, your salesman is a butthead. He does not know what he is selling. The fact is, it's not a "feature", but it's just standard...it's on ALL the tractors they sell.

I agree with kennyd pure total BUTTHEAD if salesman doesn't know this info. what other poor ,misleading , info is he telling you and other customers.
Just wondering also how many customers has he mislead and they went to another tractor make.
I believe I would have to tell the owner, manager, someone with that dealership

I'm assuming the 70A FEL works the same?
I had been giving the stick a quick bump,
but was not sure it was the correct way to float.
