JD X595 won't start

I was mowing and everything was running fine - stopped the 595 and turned her off - went to start her up again - heard a little "sparking" sound - the dash panel lights flickered for a min' - then nothing... no dash lights - no start - nothing... pulled the battery and made sure it was charged up - checked the 3 fuzes - just put the battery back in - turned the key - one dash light lit for split second... nothing after that... anyone got a suggestion?....... thanks - Todd

TBS, welcome to the forum. Your JD is newer than mine but I'd look for a fusible link and/or a wire that is shorting out on a piece of metal. If you can put a multimeter on the back of your dash gauges, and then work your way back, that's where I'd start. Has to be a fuse of some kind, can you better describe the "sparking sounds" and did you also get a burning smell with it?

Hi - Thanks for responding... the spark sound was just one very quick one and there was a slight electrical short smell... oddly the fuses didn't seem to be blown - but I replaced them anyway... I'm wondering if it could be a ignition switch issue - ???.....
