I was in the same spot as you 2 years ago. All set to buy an X540.....then the dealer shoed me a used X700. It only had 60 hours on it and looked new. Bought it for 7K and have loved it ever since. You may want to consider a used 700 series. For the money you just can not go wrong.

I am glad somebody else has been in my same situation as me, tough decision the x700 is definetly what I want but do I need it.
