John Deere 3720 Cab Tractor
Well John Deere, just announced today on their website, the new economy tractor, the JD 3203!

It looks like a pretty good basic machine, for those of you wanting to skimp on pennies and extra frills.

check it out on deere's site, news release on this tractor is located in the latest news section of JD's site.

It looks like a great machine for the money. I like that they are offering a mechanical hydro. I kind of miss the old style hydro, even though the new Ehydros have lots more features to it, like loadmatch etc.

This machine is kind of like a cross between the 4000 series/ and the new 3020 series.

Not sure I found the site you were looking at, but the '03 series I found isn't 4wd, and pretty much a good basic tractor, possibly the India manufacturer such as the 5303.
A link to the site you refer to would be helpful. Thanks.

I am interested in this model. I wish they would have put in the 35 hp engine instead. I like the idea that is is a hydro. I cannot wait until John Deere posts the specs. I hope that it is the same size (dimension size) as the old series.

Sweet, Thanks for posting that. I like the idea of a no frills mechanical hydro.

is this model to replace the 790 as John deere's new economy priced tractor?

The 790 is not going to be replaced. Neither is the 990. Both the 90 Series tractors very popular sellers. The 3203 isn't going to replace anything, just add to the lineup.

The size of the 3203 is like that of a 3020 series tractor. But it's quite different from any of the 3020 series tractors. The 3203 has two speed ranges, has a very spacious operator platform, and a more basic istrument panel.

I have only sat on a 3520, but to me it seemed like it sat higher, the hood was wider and higher, and the view of the front wheels was less than my 4400. I checked the specs on the John Deere website, but all it told me was that the wheelbase was the same. If you see a 00 or 10 series next to a 20 series, the 20 series looks bigger. I like the size of my 4400, and based on my observations, I am not interested in the 20 series. It looks like the 3203 is more along the lines of the 4400 size. I have a 48" overseeder that I pull, and the previous owner said that a 4300 would barely pull it. So, I would be concerned about losing the 3 hp.

There will also be no option for power beyond so no backhoe will go on this model. I am looking forward to getting this on the lot. Great little tractor for basic box, mower, tilling and loader type work.

( its probably ment to compete with the Kubota L3400 Hydro that was released last year. Thats been a quick hit. )

That sounds bang on to me. I ended up deciding on a Kubota L3400 as I didn't want to pay for the extras of the L3130/L3430.

JD did not seem to have anything that really competed with the L3400. I *REALLY* liked the 3120 but it was too much more. The 790 looked good except for the lack of hydro. I would have looked seriously at this new machine had it been out when I was shopping.

1st things I noticed:
6 lug hubs - 8 on my 3320
No folding Rops
Old style grill and lights
Old style grill guard
No cubby holes and cup holders onfender
Metal deck

I wonder?
Will it have mid PTO
Cruise?
Load Match/Motion match
Rear valves

Truth be known had I seen this last year I would probably own one. Looks like it will meet my needs. I won't trade my 3320 but this looks awesome for use 5-10 acre owners with no tillage.

No hoe attachment stops it for me. I have the 48 for my 4400. I looked at the 3400, looks like I may be going orange on the next trade.
Is there any bounty for competitive trades in the compact tractor market like there is in the ag market?

Nope, the 3203 doesn't have any of that. It's pretty much a very basic 3320. But still a solid rig and probably a money saver if you can get by w/o the mid PTO and rear hydroulics. The headlights are like what you see on European Deere. The fenders are also a different material. That not as rigid as the 3020 series fenders.
