JD Brand battery?

I need to replace the battery on my JD 870. I am torn between popping for an Optima or a JD Hibernator. The orignal Yuasa lasted 7 years. Maybe I should just get another of those???? The tractor sits most of the winter here in Oregon.

Not really familiar with the Hibernater, but the Optima has always been tops in my book.If the price is anywhere close to JD I'd pick it. Check to make sure you get the right colour top on the Optima, they are designed for different purposes and colour coded. Saying that, I bought the deep discharge marine starting unit and use it for my trolling motor in the summer and a booster battery in the winter without fear of spilled acid.

7 years is incredible for any battery. Yuasa makes good batteries. Most everyone on this board has switched over to leak proof Optimas. They cost almost double, but keep the acid off the radiator and other parts around the battery. I just bought a Hibernator for the 5420. I think it weighed almost a hundred pounds and cost around $130 or so.
