I have confused the setup of the 6 hoses that connect the backhoe to the tractor valve. Is there anyone out there that has one of these old ladies that can take a couple of pictures of their setup?

You may have to resort to purchasing a JD 510 tech manual to resolve your hose routing problem.

I have the tech manual. It doesn't show it unfortunately. If you look closely at the photo, you can see that the valve body on the tractor had 3 hoses up and 3 down. The tech manual only shows it with 6 horizontally, with no arrows.

Might rig up a pressure gauge that you can plumb in to check which lever goes with which line out. From there, may figure out the rest of them. Or might have to hook up a second one. More work without quick-connects, but should identify what numbers 1 and 2 mean written on the valve.

Ports that are vertical to each other on the valve section would feed a function. I.e. section labeled 1 feeds a function, etc. So if you move joystick a known direction one of valve spools will move. That will tell you which function those two lines should connect too. Now you just have trace lines on the hoe to see which hoses are for that function. Getting to operate the correct direction is the unknown but if wrong just swap those two hoses for that function.
