What would be the best way to go about doing this? Got a 48' enclosed gooseneck with living quarters that comes in at 16k lbs empty with three torsion axles. I need to take the wheels/tires off to go get new tires put on and will go through the brakes and bearings at the same time. I have heard of tweaking the frames on big enclosed trailers by jacking in the wrong spot. Where would I want to put the jacks when lifting and the stands to hold it? The trailer does have a double frame under it.

Thanks,
Mike

I would use a bottle jack at point between each axle then place it on 6 jack stands under each axle to frame attach point.

48 foot trailer... does this require a yearly inspection in your home state? Is it tagged commercially?

If so, then only a licensed tech is allowed to do the work.

No yearly inspection, tagged as a camper - 28' garage and 20' camper

Its how I do my tandem and tri axle units. It does not take long, maybe 10 minutes to jack up each side and block it up safely.

He is talking serious weight here. Jacking just one axle up or not properly supporting it is asking for trouble.

I would have just put a jack under the frame and lifted it onto a jack stand, ending up with 2 jack stands per side. Not kosher?

Not saying it will not work. I can not see it. You seen like a very intelligent guy so I am sure it would be fine if you think it is. I was just giving you the safest answer.

Just make sure your jack and stands are up to the task.
