It's been snowing here all day. We are supposed to get over 4o cm (16") today and more lake effect snow overnight and tomorrow.

Thanks Shane-after living in downtown Toronto for 20 years I am happy to be in the forests of Northern Onatrio with no one bothering me.

We started getting precipitation yesterday about noon. Rain on the coast, 10 miles inland snow slush and 20 miles inland real snow.

Streets are slippery and slipperier!

It snowed steady here since Monday morning and we have 15" on the ground. It is still coming down but not nearly as heavy. Now it's heading up to you guys in Canada. It sure is very pretty looking out the window.
My tractor got good exercise early in the morning too pushing and pulling all the snow. It worked like a charm.

Sorry about the snow. Somehow it missed us in SK on Monday and Tuesday and went out your direction. I had just picked up a snowblower so I'm a little jealous (that seems strange to me too).

Enjoy the fun but hopefully rest of the roads are better shape than your own.

What do you think I should pay for it?

Can I use my WR Long valve kit and hoses (ran to the back of the tractor) to power the hydraulic chute?

$1800 seems a little bit salty .... It does have the hydraulic chute, but for that price, you should be able to get a brand new one for only one or two hundred bucks more. (If I have heard prices right)

I found that with used blowers it was difficult to determine how used they were. Rust and wear in the fan area seems to be what matters as much as bearings. I think he didn't pay much more than $1700 for that new. I don't think anything used is worth more than 70% of list price. Condition is good, not excellent so I would low ball if you really want it. If you have a few more bucks I'd suggest looking at new blowers. A new agrotrend with hydraulic rotation is about the same price.
I opted to pay a few more bucks for a Buhler. The large skid shoes are standard and should work well on my gravel lane. The hydraulic bracket is $90. I'll add my own rotation and deflection cylinders for about $150
Just my 2cents.

Thanks for the advice Tig and BX-the seller suggested he'd go down to $1420 picked up which isn't a bad price in my estimation. I'd like to pay $1200 which would constitute a good deal in my mind.

I can buy a Buhler 60" with manual chute for US$1850 at my Kubota dealer 20 miles south of me. Another dealer in northern Michigan quoted me $2200 for the same Buhler or the Woods 4220. An Argo Trend at a dealer on the Canadian side has 60" units at $1900.

I put my rear 4 link v-bar's on my rear R4's and my new 2 link v-bars on my R4 front tires today. All I can say is holy #$%&^! what a difference in traction. I was plowing 4 foot snow banks with my bucket down and rear blade down. It compares to winter driving with a rear drive (no 4x4) truck with summer tires vs. an AWD car with winter tires.

I made such quick work of my snow clearing that I am reconsidering the snow blower purchase. I will try it out again tomorrow and decide what I am going to do.

The tractor also uses way less fuel when the tires are not spinning.

Some time you don't have a choice about going out in the cold. I went to Daddy's for Christmas just a few more than a couple years ago, and the temp was at zero when a cast iron drain pipe going from his shower to the ground decided to freeze up. He had water dripping to prevent freezing of the supply lines, but it needed a place to go. I had just brought Daddy a set of bottles for his torch, so we fired it up and used a #14 rosebud to thaw it out while lying on my side under the house. That torch didn't help much in keeping me warm, but it did thaw the pipe. We grabbed some insulation and covered it which helped, after that. Daddy's house was a summer home when it was built, and they always drained the water before leaving so it didn't have enough insulation on the pipes for that sort of cold. Hard to fix the problem of not enough insulation on the pipes after the walls are sealed up.

Ah makes sense now. I tried getting chains on my L3400 last year but there is not enough clearance between the fenders and R4s to safely get chains on the L3400. This is something you definately should know northland if you ever consider getting an L3400.

I think it was dumb for them to design things this way but that is the way it is. One would need an axle spacer of some sort to get the chains on and not tear up the fender.

I sent the chains back and am glad I never ended up spending the dough. I'm sure they would have been useful but pretty much flat land that I have, I didn't need them. Plus I would have hated the hassle of getting them on and off.

ENOPARSE is a nerdy term. It is one of the standard C library error codes that can be set in the global variable "errno" and stands for Error No Parse.
Since you didn't get it, I can thus conclude that unlike me you are probably a normal, well adjusted human being ;-)
