Getting the snow tires mounted on the car tomorrow.
I just had a serious conversation with Mother Nature and She said She didn't like the attitude of the folks living in Florida and the few that are going to the Nassau area for a while. She promised to get even with them by dumping 18 inches of snow in their area before Winter is over.
Would I lie? ;-)

I would love to see 18" of snow in Jacksonville, Florida! Think of the money I could make with my tractor pulling people out of the ditches! I don't have a snow blower, but I think I could build a rear blade in a hurry if a box blade doesn't work. The last time we had snow, they shut all the bridges down over the river that splits this city due to not being able to clear them.

Why is it when I visit Florida, their news is filled with Buffalo weather? Are they trying to convince the snow birds that they did the right thing and btw, please spend more.

Northland, cool snow pics. Thanks for sharing.

I just hooked up the snow plow for it's final test after installing the correct length hoses, so I'm ready for you to send the white stuff down this-a-way.

That storm won't get far enough south to give us anything, we are supposed to get rain.

Nothland......... I was just watching the evening news and they said noth of the Soo could get another 15" or 40cm of snow before it ends. Here on Manitoulin we only have about 3 to 4 inches . The weather man is also calling for a Big storm for Sunday and Monday. A blower is the answer. Garry:D

Steve from Nova Scotia ... the coldest day of my life was January 1985, I was selling Real Estate at Auction for the government in International Fall, MN. It got down to well well well below zero with that strong Canadian wind blowing, that night I went to a pub in Canada, and those crazy canadians were in skirts playing the bag pipes, I often thought they had froze their brains!!

The coldest day of my life was 15 years ago in Churchill Falls, Labrador, I was installing a satellite dish for downloading the weather on the roof of the airport building, it was minus 37 with a wind chill factor of minus 54. I could just get one nut and bolt together and then I would have to go in and warm my fingers as they started to get stiff after 20 seconds exposure. That job normally took half an hour, except this one drug out for over an hour and a half. They get on average about 15 feet of snow per season. It's a small town there for one reason, the second largest underground hydro generating station in the world. Everything is carved into the granite, man what a site to see if your into those type of things. Sorry, I'm babbling again.

It's was a snowy mess here at 5:00 when I had to drive my wife to town. Why do people here get all agressive and impatient when we have our first snowfall of the year. It's ridiculous how and why people speed, tailgate, bash into each other or ditch their minivans and SUVs. It's slippery folks, pay attention.
Sorry, rant is over now.

Nice pictures Northland.

We haven't had any real snow in Southern Ontario for a while now. I think it slowed down after I bought my snowblower!

Those south of the Mason/Dixon line seldom realize that the advantage of snow is if you wait long enough it goes away by itself unlike hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.

It reminds me of my first Sgt. in basic training at Ft. Jackson SC. We got "the big snow" 4" and they shut down the post for 2 days. They made us hold hands to walk up the hill to the mess hall, when I laughed the first shirt got upset. I told him that where I come from we don't even think about snow until it is over the front bumper. We had to hold hands to walk up the hill but were soon on out way the "The Nam."

Below is for the map above it is from AccuWeather.com - Weather News Headlines - Weather News

This graphic clearly shows how much snow we think is going to fall this weekend through 7 p.m. on Sunday. Notice how the substantial snow avoids the region from Missouri to Ohio but shifts southward farther east in Pennsylvania. This is due to cold air damming. In other words, cold air often gets dammed up on the eastern side of the Appalachians and is slow to erode. This can lead to extended periods of snow and ice in and to the east of the mountains, while areas to the west quickly turn to rain.

Another thing I need to bring up is that this snowfall forecast only goes through Sunday and does not include what happens in New England Sunday night and Monday. Ultimately, some of the largest snowfalls from the storm may occur from Vermont and New Hampshire to New Brunswick.

Thanks for the info and link. As a flyfisherman I have always wanted to go to Labrador to catch some of those big specks.

Well the snow subsided last night but it just started again-see pictures.

It's -12C and we are expecting another 8 to 12" by tonight. It is now an absolute white out. The last picture gives an idea- it's taken from inside my office.

Delmar knows how to spend his day.

The tractor is plugged in and ready for work.

Despite snow warnings and predictions, no accumulation in Buffalo.
