Prices must be different than what is posted on their site.

I think you may have only pulled up the points set.

There are 4 part numbers:

353172R91 - Points Set
353903R92 - Condenser
353896R91 - Rotor
351693R92 - Distributor Cap

If you run those through that online store you linked to you can find the pricing. The condenser, I want to say, was the most expensive of all of them.

I thought what I brought up was the whole set, not listed individually. I know they sold them individually years ago, or complete set. My buddy was the parts guy, I just needed a condenser at that time, he told me to get the whole set, it was only a couple dollars more. But still think the quality should be worth it. I sure didn't mean to mislead you.

You're fine. I was just being thorough with the PN's/info.

As to a whole kit under one PN - I didnt ask. I should have. At this point, though, they were already ordered yesterday and I need them for the weekend so Ill keep the order the way it is.

Other than moving the machine this weekend I don't have much progress.

I did get in to the side panel earlier Saturday to find the timing needle on the crank shaft pulley. That is so gunked up I can't see what it reads right now. And that is where I stopped. I need to get in there deeper to both clean things and be able to rotate the crank shaft.

Right now with the loader inoperable it is blocked up with 2x4's. So both the loader frame and one of the 2x4's are in the way of the access down there where I need to get to.

That said, where it was - sitting outside - was not going to be the place to do that as I am able to get it in a barn where it is going to be used now so that is where my weekend went instead of working on the machine.

I'm hoping Wednesday I can get back to it.

Just a quick note and a question since I dont have the machine running with a pto implement -

The pto engagement lever seems very "loose" to me. Playing with it tonight I found it is, in fact, engaging and disengaging. However, it seems all it is doing is dropping a gear in to engage. There is no "clutching". Am I missing something? If it is just gears meshing - that seems like an awfully hard engagement, especially with a hard-to-turn implement.

Our brush hog has a pto clutch on it, but I see that more for protection from the blades hitting things than the pto engagement.

More than likely a 2 stage clutch.

This series of IH tractors use a two stage clutch to operate the PTO.

When you push the clutch down you can feel when you release the drive portion of the clutch and then if you push down more the PTO can be shifted.

That may take some getting used to. We're going to have a lot of brush hogging to do going backwards so there's going to be a lot of forward/reverse shifting with the PTO engaged. I should probably make some kind of cage to keep me out of the brush and trees too but that will be down the road. We need to clear the underbrush from some woody areas where the tractor won't fit, but we're not there yet. We're still a ways out from getting the machine going. I doubt I'll get a chance to touch it until maybe next week yet. We have too much to do this week and coming weekend.

If the 2 stage clutch is properly adjusted, they work great. It will allow you to change directions, but the brush hog will keep turning until you push further down on the clutch pedal. Sure beats waiting for the brush hog to wind down to stop to shift, and don't have to have an over running clutch on the PTO to ratchet off. On older tractors with the standard PTO, it will keep driving the tractor until the mower stops turning which can get you in trouble real fast. Many tractors have gone through a fence, over a bank, etc. without an over running clutch.

You'll just have to learn to feather the clutch when engaging both.

I agree.
