2015 Mahindra 1538HST
We have had an extremely dry winter in Colorado and are at extreme risk of fires this year. Have already had two - one just about 5 miles away. Got me started on thinking about insurance for my 2015 1538.

Talked to my State Farm agent and he said we could get something called PAP. Started down that route. Had to get a current value estimate from a Mahindra dealer, which I got. This was a number which included the tractor, BH, FEL and bucket. SF underwriters came back and said that they needed the attachments broken out separately. Dealer said no can do, so the policy application was cancelled.

Was the dealer correct in not being able to break things out?

Other insurance options?

Thanks,
Lowell

While I"m not certain, I suspect the dealer cannot break out the components because he got 1 invoice the "unit as a whole".

There are several ins companies that cover equipment as part of the "personal property" coverage within your homeowners policy. (without additional charges if you're comfortable with those limits) You should call around to get other quotes

I gave another Mahindra dealer a call. He said he thought he could break them out. We shall see. These guys didn't care about an invoice. All they wanted was year, make, model, part numbers of what was hung off of the tractor and all of the associated serial numbers.

As far as getting quotes from other companies, I'm pretty well locked in with SF. Last time I took the time to get some quotes, very few companies will write policies out here due to fire risk. Population density is pretty low and in our case we have been told we have a 17 minute response time and I don't believe that number. So by the time any fire equipment gets out here the house would be fully involved and all the fire company would do is to just ensure things don't expand into a wildfire. Years ago there was an incident that resulted in a fire truck response - they got lost! The two quotes I did get could not compete with what we pay SF. So there aren't any viable options in our situation.
