Insulate/Upgrade Existing Pole Barn/Shop

I know this is an old post, but Menards just told me not to use cellulose insulation with a metal ceiling because the cellulose will corrode the metal. Bat insulation or foam is fine. Just thought I'd share what they told me, for anyone reading this post down the road.

I know this is an old thread but I was hoping to get some help from the members who wrote posts to it.
I am in the process of converting half of my 40' x 40' pole barn in to living quarters. I will have to insulate the walls and ceiling inside the house portion. I thought about pulling the metal sheets off of the roof and installing the roll insulating on the batting and then reinstall the roof. Or should I just put insulation between the 2"x4" joists? Same with the walls. Should I install insulation or have it sprayed on? Thanks.

I would think that pulling all the metal off would be a bigger pain then spraying in some insulation. I spray foamed my basement and found it real easy to do. I bought my kit from foam it green .com.

Oh man. Don't pull the sheeting. You will have a major mess.

Use icynene spray foam

It's a bit more expensive, but great stuff. Several you tube vids of the install process.
