inground pool heaters

Hello, I've been away for awhile. We are looking at buying a 200,000 to 250,000 BTU LP inground pool heater. Does anyone have any recommendations on brands to buy or not buy? Would appreciate any info anyone might have.

We've only had ours since last Aug so I don't know if our experience will mean much. The builder recommended we stay away from the new electronic ones (with the fancy led display, programmable, etc.) as the circuit boards or something were not holding up well to the elements. Off the top of my head, I can't recall the brand we got (I'll kick myself when I go look as it is a major brand name) but it is a 400,000 BTU unit that heats the water well, comes on when its supposed to, and really runs my gas bill up. I think these things (non-electronic ones) are pretty low-tech appliances that should be fairly reliable. Probably shouldn't require alot of research.

Wish I could just send ya'll some of my excess warm water. As of May-15, mother nature has taken my pool temp up to ~90F!

90? Is that all? That's the temp my kids want. Anything less and we have the heater going. They think the pool is a giant bathtub.

I heat the pool with my Taylor Wood Burner. I did a little creative plumbing, so I can switch-over the hot-water heater coil to heat the pool.

If I put the pool cover on and run the Wood Burner hard overnight, I can raise the pool temperature a couple of degrees.

It works OK and hardly cost me a cent /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
