The Direcway cost me $59.99 a month.
Pretty fast, to me anyway. I have dial up at work. Comes in at 45.2. The dial up at home was 19 and had to go. Saves a lot of time with the satellite.

Yes, do check with the phone company. My local representative said they are installing "digital" grade lines servicing the homes in my area.

The "old" line only had two lines in it. The "new" lines carry
ten.

And yes, on the splits. If you have multiple jacks you can introduce "noise" by the splicing. This will degrade your line quality. That is why I ran a dedicated line from my PC to the house box. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Then I was fortunate enough to get cable. And more fortunate that I could educate my ISP on their line troubles..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Best of luck to you.

I sure will try the phone company and see if they will up grade the line to the house. Maybe I should try their ISP and see if that would get a better response from them.

Ranchman, I am not much of a computer guy so I am not completely sure. When I go to Control Panel, then System, it says 288 OSB RAM. I was told that is as much as it will handle.

Mark I asked a similar Question a couple moths back. I to have (HAD) a lousy dialup.

We decided to go DWAY. We love it. You can't use it for realtime gaming or What is refered to as Twitch Gaming. (1st person shooters.) as the response time is 800-1200 mSeconds compared to Dail up or DSL's 600-800. When your PC talks to the servers.

But we canceled the phone at $45 for it and the ISP and now pay $59.99 plus tax.
The thing that hurts is the $600 up front or $99 a month for 15 mnths.

We can now both be on line on 2 pc's and no lag /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

O' and I hear it's lousy for VOIP as well....again due to the lag time....

If they offer DSL or cable in a couple yrs like they say, I'll probable go that way then.
Until then we love it comapaired to the old dail up . 7.4k on the rainy days and just got sick of complaining and no lasting results.

I also happen to know from both an Engineer at their office and the tech who connected the phone we are at the end of the lines and will most likely be last for DSL.

O' and no phone is needed for the new Dway system to be started. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Which held up our desicion originally as we did not have a land line till recently /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Typical /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Thanks again folks for that help......
