I just got carded

Wife got carded when she ordered a margarita in Chili's a while back. She is silver haired, born in 1946. If we had been alone rather than with another couple, I would have had to explain to the manager (the waitress said he required ID for every liquor purchase) how stupid his policy was and then left. Common sense seems to be missing in much of todays society. I can agree with the places that state "If you look younger than 35 prepare to be carded" but some things are just stupid and a total waste of my time and effort.
I dont have an issue with providing DL # for ammo purchases but alcohol, decongestants etc is a bit much when you are for sure much more than 21.

Gary, If we continue on this path we will soon need a license to have sex. Imagine, two consenting adults (or married) carding each other before hoping into the sack. Enforcement I wonder; just like other stupid rules/laws it winds up being un-enforced until the enforcing agency needs something to charge somebody(s) with.

Truth as defined by all the media news sources is contaminated through the "spin" required by the economic, social, and political needs of the news sources' primary financial contributors and is questionable at best. Compounding the spin is that many passively accepting "news" viewers in the general public can not differentiate between what is spun news and "almost fact" or just plain expressed BS opinion spun by talking heads as required by the $ handlers of their respective network. It does not matter which party or "news" organization.

Increasing ratings and $ are the only news networks' goals.

I bought some Carb Cleaner today, probably isn't much different then Brake Cleaner, but I thought I heard using Brake cleaner on something that is going to be welded will give off a deadly gas.

I got upset 15 years ago when we started to need a prescription for cold medicine, the good stuff.

A carton of Marlboro's is $74 here. It must be - OK is closer to the tobacco fields that here in WA. Glad I don't smoke either.

That's why so many, who do smoke, make the trip to the indian reservation where cigs are less than half that price. No state or federal taxes.

When I drove for Mclane we delivered cigarettes to the c stores. Had to be careful unloading at night. High dollar commodity.
You would have 10 cases on a hand truck while your partner waited in the trailer for you to return so he could take his load in.
Always had undesirables hanging around the truck.

I have been to some communities where this wouldn't be a bad thing.
Cigarettes here are between AU$35-50 a pack, the government is trying to discourage people from smoking but don't want to give up the tax they make from them, fortunately we don't smoke.

Been carded 3 times recently, once for a can of spray paint and twice at a local pot store where I get my CBD gel for my arthritis. That was on one visit! Once to get in the door and again when I paid for it! I asked if they wanted to see my Medicare card.

Here, beer and liqueur stores are government run. I remember back in the late 50s-early 60s, I would go to the liqueur store with my dad. There was no display, just a cage like an old time bank would have. You filled out a form with your order, showed ID and a plain brown bag with your purchase was passed through the wicket.
Eventually, the beer and liqueur stores got rid of that and they became more like regular retail stores, showing you what you were going to buy, you pick it up and go to the cashier.

Seems with this carding business, we are reverting to the old ways. Big brother is watching again........

I had to give my birth date yesterday to buy a jug of windshield washer fluid. Have no idea why as I do not know what they would use that for unless they were going to drink it.

In the 60s I was in a small store with friends buying beer, wine and cigarettes. As the owner rang up a 24 case of beer for me said "Son, how old are you?" "15" I replied. "Well...at least you're honest" the owner replied as he took my money. Cigarettes back then I'm thinking were like 25 to 50 cents/pack.
