hydrostatic trans fluid change

Is it very hard to change the trans fluid in my LT-1045?

Yes, sort of. It's a sealed unit that's not meant to have the fluid changed. But you can do so by removing the tranny from the tractor and turning it upside down. I believe it drains out a breather vent or something. You refill through the same hole.

If you just want to do it as a preventative maintenance measure, I'd just do sucessive suck-outs and refills of the exansion tank. Without a tank, as said, you pretty much have to remove and invert the unit. Unless you want to flip the whole tractor over or drill/tap a drain hole! Here's your trans: Hydro-Gear ? LT Series
