My hydrauliccs is stuck up when I start my massey tractor. Controls for up/down feel light as if no longer working. Any way to indentify if these levers no lonnger work or is it something else? How else can I get it down when running?

Some tractors have a valve that adjust the lowering speed of the lift arms. Could be that you somehow turned this knob tight. If so the arms wont go down. Consult your manual for this valve (most are somewhere around the front of the seat) and loosen it off a bit

jencat,

Are you having trouble with the front-end loader being stuck up..??

If so, then you need to check the 3ph lever to make sure it is not in the "Full Up " position........

or you need to check any quick connects for the FEL....they may be partially not connected.....best to uncoupler then reconnect.....

Hope this helps.......and Welcome to TBN....

If it is the 3pt unit that is stuck up, as someone has mentioned, check the 3pt lowering speed unit. This is designed to let the fluid out of the cyl. It has a knob for adjusting, from fast to slow and to lock the 3pt in the up position. It should look like some springs pushing on a steel ball that closes off the fluid flow to the sump. It is possible that if left closed for a long time, it just might rust in place and jam the release. Thers are two relief valves in the 3pt also, the 3pt relief valve and the safety relief valve.

Another possibility is that the 3pt lever is not moving the 3pt valve.

If the system is stuck up, and the relief is relieving all the fluid going to the back, the fluid would get very hot. In neutral of course, the fluid flows thrugh the valve freely.

My thoughts here is that hyd stuck up to mean 3pt. I was thinking that if the tractor was an old massy, that the lift arms would not stay up anyway. You are right if there is a loader and using QD's, that they could default or lock up with the loader raised.

I think a lot of the posters would get a quicker and better answer if describing what they have and the complete problem, and then reply if the problem is fixed.
