My 1973 Ford 3000 Hydraulics won't hold pressure, they will sage over time, by morning the 3 point hitch will be on the ground this is true with the bucket as well.....although i don't leave the bucket in the up position.
How can I check the pump to see if it is leaking or something else?

Well it is a 52yr old machine. I would just park it so the attachments and 3pt are on the ground like they should be.

nyone has summarized it pretty well. Your pump has nothing to do with the issue. The loader is a different control valve than the 3 point. The cylinders can also bypass internally causing this. Overnight is not a big issue. If you can watch them leak down that's a big enough issue to consider digging deeper on. So that brings me to this. Never trust hydraulics alone to hold a suspended load. That's why mechanical locks are used on a lot of pieces of equipment. A positive lock for holding a loader in the air for servicing. An implement often has a way to lock it up so the cylinder isn't what is keeping it raised. Sitting the loader on the ground or the 3 point implement is the best thing.
