I was using my 2210D yesterday and I lowered my loader on a stack of split logs. After that the loader wouldn't work. The 3 pt. works sporatically now too. I drained the hydaulic/trans fluid, cleaned the filter, and refilled with new fluid. Still won't work. I'm not sure what else to check. Could I have gotten air in the lines? If so, how do you bleed the lines? HELP!!:confused:

From your description I would say that you are not getting oil pressure from your hydraulic pump. Either the suction is blocked, a relief valve is MAJOR stuck open, or something is not right in your pump itself. Are there any unusual sounds? A pump not getting oil and a relief valve will make noises. Maybe even a broken pump will make noises. Based on what you said my guess would be pump problems, maybe the pump spline drive or shaft.:(

I am not familiar with the 2210 so maybe someone that has one can chime in.

I hope it is something simple--often it is.

Isn't it strange how these things work one minute and not the next?

I don't have any good ideas for you, but I also think you don't have any pressure..........

Check all of your quick connectors. Chances are there's one that isn't connected good. They can look connected and still not be enough to work right. That is number one hydraulic problem with compact tractors when the hydraulics are acting up.
All you have to do to bleed the system is to work the loader up and down a few times then hold the joystick to one side all the way to send the fluid through the relief for a few seconds. The air will purge into the sump.

Thanks for the response everyone! I really appreciate the help and advice.

Now for the stupid human trick - In the middle of my job on Saturday (I was laying the base for a new shed which was due to arrive early Monday morning) I noticed that a bolt / small machine screw was missing from the bracket that the 3 pt. hitch lift handle rides in. You know - the one that lets you control how far you raise the lift or lower it. Naturally I wanted to replace it since there are only two screws and one was now missing. Anyway, it never occured to me that this could effect the lift control! After wracking my brain and then tearing apart my spool valves trying to see if there was a problem there (Remember - I already changed the fluid and cleaned the filter) I thought about adding that bolt. On a whim I took it out and lo and behold the FEL worked as it should!! It seems that the lever needed that little bit of extra travel to reach its max lockout point in order to use the FEL.....

Go figure :eek:

On the Massey 283 I use a bungee cored to hold the lever up beside the seat . if I don't the joystick want work.
