You need to turn the outer, larger hex nut that is physically part of the hose assembly. The smaller nuts are usually fixed adapters, and you shouldn't mess with them.
This is spot on advice, concentrates the force.Usually, with propper well fitting wrenches (the longer the better) placed in close proximity to one another, a squeeze works better than holding a wrench in each hand. Ask me how I know...40-years experience.
Something I have learned from C&C Equipment web site after watching him work on dozers, is that vibration works well on a stuck fitting. He uses an air hammer but I'm sure a few good hits with a hammer will help. I tried the air hammer and it works great. I was working on had lines also.First picture hold the nut on the tube and then spin the hose off. Yes can use some heat but be careful on how much so don’t scorch the oil.
Second picture of quick disconnect the hose end should unscrew and again careful with heat.
Try warming it with a hair dryer and then applying penetraiting fluid. Repeat the fluid application over a few days warming each time before trying to seperate them. That usually does it for me. Another trick is to tighten the wrenched connections a bit if you can to break the corrosion and then apply more fluid. Even if it moves just a tiny fraction it can be enough to break it loose and then walk it back and forth to get it off. If the quick coupling is stuck warm that too and hit it with fluid as well then try rotating it. The lock balls get stuck and that will sometimes free them.I have a 1984 Ford 1510 tractor and want to replace four of the hydraulic lines connecting to the front end loader as the rubber has worn off and the metal is rusting. But the connections won't budge. I'm using "wrench extenders" (metal pipes) to give me more leverage, but the nuts simply refuse to move even a little bit. First question: Which nuts do I turn? See attached pictures. Second question: If I am turning the right nuts and they just won't move, can I apply heat (propane torch) to the metal or is this a no-no on lines with hydraulic fluid in them? First pic is the line to the loader, second is line to the controller. Any help appreciated.
