hydraulic is not working correctly

i have a 1972 ford 3000, for me to pick up my implements with my hydraulic 3 point hitch i have to hold the little lever under the seat on the right hand side half way of its travel. and when i let the little lever go it lets my implements go back down,but if i hold it there it stays in place. is there a adjustment to fix this or is something wrong internally, the guy i bought the tractor from said that he just had the hydraulic system fixed any help would be appreciated thanks pat

If that is the lever for the remote hydraulics it may be bypassing inside the valve under the front of the seat.

I had a 3000 & in the up position the 3ph arms would drop slightly when the handle for the remote was being used then raise back to the normal position when I released the lever.

I removed the top cover and found out that someone took it apon themselves to machine their own pin the od of the pin was five eight in diameter where it should have been on five sixteenths of an inch in diameter changed the pin And degreased the parts and changed the o rings and everything works flawlessly now.
