HST vs. Gear Drive

Another vote for gear drive, I absolutely love my tractor. The F-R shuttle makes it a dream.

Nothing against the HST, they have their place and are very popular these days. Im just glad they still offer both.

Me too. Always liked the 5040. Probably...well, maybe...more tractor than I actually need....but still..........

Edit 2: Sadly, after a resurgence and a good run over the last 10 or so years, basic manual transmissions are now in decline in cars again. While true double clutch paddle shift gearboxes are true wonders (and really just manuals without clutch pedals) what is showing up in most "sporty" cars these days is automatic transmissions with flappy paddles that "suggest" which gear you want it to be in that pretend to be double clutch systems. Fortunately most hard core sports cars can still be had with manual transmissions. That's all I'll drive until I get enough money for one of these real double clutch dealies.

I agree, George. Something about shifting for yourself (rather than being shiftless?) has always appealed to me. I think it's about staying engaged with the task of driving; paying attention, anticipating and being in the right gear before it's needed. I see so many drivers on the road who are just yamming on their phones and mindlessly following the car in front of them, like sheep off to slaughter.

Looks like Kubota Canada is having their Spring Sale Event. I'm going to pick up the 2320 HST this coming week or the next. Another Colorado low is coming through tonight. It would be nice to have the tractor and blower now.
