That looks a whole lot better than I was picturing from your description, at worst case a new set of friction discs and your good to go.

Received the replacement u joint from Howse Implement in Monday's mail and put it all together Monday evening. Rebuilt PTO u joint works perfect.
gave it a go this morning before heading in to work.

NurseFarmer, I don't have that tiller but the piece in your hands sure looks like a broken piece of friction plate from the slip clutch. Should be an easy replacement part if you have a dealer somewhere.

Yep that is the clutch so if you hit something hard it will slip and not break the gear box or something else.

Willy that isn't what the op needs. That is a universal joint you posted

That's what is usually inside the yoke and when they are
rusted out or wore out that item is needed to replace the
old one. I have done enough of them
