I haven't used my box blade since I built my landplane(7 foot)(. I can move more dirt from a pile with it, than the 6 foot boxblade will move in a single pass. My blades are mounted on 4x7 angle iron that is 1/2 inch thick, and the 5/8 inch thick sides of my landplane are 20 inches tall. When the landplane gets full of dirt, it is all the 70 hp JD2555 wants to pull!
My experience with the landplane differs a lot from your experience, but I am not grading gravel, just a dirt road. I drop it, and pull one pass down and one pass back up and the 14 foot roadway is done!
