How do you use a landplane

/ How do you use a landplane #21
My driveway stays pretty solid after grading with my yard box. i have the to link long enough so the blade is 1" higher than the reverse blade behind it, so the front blade cuts of humps and fills in low spots, then the reverse blade does the dragging and leveling.
It's very easy to recreate the crown by adjusting the leveling link. I would never consider using the scarifier teeth to loosen the solid bed.

One other thing Gordon. If I ever got enough rain to wash my driveway - like your pics show - I would haul out my row boat. Because we would be in the middle of a MAJOR flood. Total moisture accumulated for the entire year ( rain & snow converted ) was 15.170 inches - 2025.

My driveway is not a "mono" material situation. Like many of you guys have. It has a base of 3" & 4" stones combined ( railroad ballast material ). Then multiple layers of pit run. Smaller rock, gravel, sand, silt & volcanic ash. After the spring "dampening" this material dries and becomes concrete. The rock, gravel and sand were brought in by truck when the road was constructed. The silt & volcanic ash were brought in by wind - over the years the road has existed ( 43 now ).

I find that the best bet is - learn to use what you have and do the best you can with it. Every location will require some degree of fine tuning to bring out the best.
