How do you test a used machine?

1*The BX 1500 is one of the nicest S-cuts out there .
Good price good shape & low hours .
I'd by it in a heart beat if all checks out .
I really love both of mine.
1*Good to hear the price isn't out of line, because it looks exellent. But I never had one, 234 hrs.
Hey-- thanks.

2*rite on .
Done deal. And she runs like a fine watch, to me. I'm taking a quick coffee break at the keyboard before going back out to the shop-- but I'm paralyzed without the manuals right now. Seller thought he had them (seems like a trustworthy soul), is working on it.
2*She's a beautiful little thing! Yes indeed.

So far, Randall, I just got what I need now--- the FEL. I'll probably do the ballast with a stock ballast box instead of a box scraper or other implement, or loading the tires. Some of where I need to go is tight space, boulders and trees. I'll also need some clamp on forks.

Good information from all. Thanks alot.

I'm researching the trailer forum here. I have a very good single axle heavy duty utility type with adequate cargo capacity, but only 8' long and the axle is fixed, so even with rational modifications, weight distribution would be touchy, and I'd like to take the machine on a 700 mile (350X2) highway round trip once a year. I understand the push for dual axles -- nice -- but with new C rated tires I don't think I should worry too much about "blowouts". I'll be looking around for a price on a Load-Rite U612-3501S1, which is about 6X12, single axle, surge brakes. I figure the BX1500 plus loader and fluids around 1600 lbs. The intended tow vehicle is a Volkswagen Tiguan, little pretend SUV, but 38 lbs cold tires, tight suspension and , rated for 2200 lbs towing in this country. Strangely enough, in some other countries its rated at 2000 kilos, exactly double. Class II Draw-Tite hitch. It's turbocharged, which some say is not right for towing, but I trust the engineers and there rating. I've hooked my boat up to it, @just about 2200 lbs anchors, tool boxes, fluids, trailer, spare tire and all, set up at 255 lbs tongue weight, and it feels good, but it's been low speed only so far. The Tiguan has an electronic towing module wired in that supposedly senses stuff and works with the Vehicle Stability Control System. Just somehting else to go wrong, maybe, but it's there, and the "truck"s engineering in general has been good. On the other hand, I'm not quite legal because it's specified at max 200 lb tongue weight, which makes not much sense with the 2200 rating. Also, two of us stood and bounced around on the receiver and our 350+ pounds didn't do much to the rear end at all. Should be OK, if the other drivers don't act nuts.
