Hi All,

I don't post much here, but I'm curious. How many hours do you put on your tractors per year. The main reason I have a tractor is to get in and out of the property in the winter. Other than that I use it once in awhile for mowing or digging a post hole or as a really nice wheelbarrow. Don't get me wrong, I love the tractor and couldn't live where I do without it.

It was about 4 years old when I bought it. It's a 1999 model and had mid 300's hours on it. I'm about to turn over 600 hours now so I've only averaged about 40 hours per year. At this rate the tractor will outlast me, and that's a good thing. I don't feel like buying another one.

Mine is 3.5 years old and has 260 hours. That's about 75 hours per year. I put a solid 100 on it my first year and a little less since. I use it in spurts...put maybe 15 hours on it for 6 months, then use it 30 hours in 2 weeks completing a series of projects.

At that rate, I'll crack 2,000 hours when I'm 58 years old (about 2032). Perhaps I'll then consider the tractor 'broken in'.

My wife threatens once in a while to purchase a ZTR so she can help with the lawn duties (she's a little scared of the tractor). Guess I'll save a few more hours if that happens...

Looks like I will average just over 200 hrs a year. I've currently have 240 hrs and purchased it new 14 months ago. I use mine on a 7 acre horse farm mowing the lawn, cutting the two pastures, putting in fence posts, seeding/fertilizing the pastures, clearing/dragging horse manure, digging drainage ditches, pulling stumps, etc.

I use around 500 hours per year between the 2. Might be a bit more this year. Will be less when all the landscape creation is done and I move to maintenance.

Unless it is a farm tractor or commercial tractor very likely you will not put many hours on your tractor for it to add up. Just adhere to maintenance schedules , some people change oil every year if not sooner if the hours did dictate a sooner change of oil.

I bought my tractor with 78 hours on it in the beginning of 2008 and put 400 hours on it in 1.5 years. Currently, it has 507 hours on it. That time will be reduced in following years because I was breaking down very large wood piles from land clearing.

I now have had the BX2360 6 mo and will be doing a 150hr oil change this weekend. Mowing 6 acres and will be doing a 900 ft driveway this winter, who knows the hrs for a first year. Either way it's seat time:D

L3400 with 190 or so hours in the past three years so about 60 per year. I expect it to last a LONG time at this rate.

L3400 new in May 2005 and I just hit 46 hrs. It should last quite a long time at this rate.

I use my tractor mostly for mowing. I have a large yard and about 20 acres of field to mow. I average a 100 hrs a year. That may not seem like alot compared to someone who makes a living on a tractor. But for a homeowner who already has a job. Thats 2 1/2 weeks. eddy622611

brought mine home 6-2-09 with .03 hr on it. i have 47.4 on it now. but the hours will slow down after i get the trees drug off that was pushed over along the fence line and the center of my place where i'm going to have about a 2 acre pound put.
got around 200 more trees (all 35-40ft cedars) left to go. i'm about 1/2 way done.

Bought my tractor new in march 2009 and I have 109 hrs on it already! It's a digital meter so it goes by actual time the key is on. If my tractor had a cable drive meter the hrs would be much less because I rarely run at pto speed.

L4200 with 2780 hours, I bought it used a year ago with around 2300 hours on it, I have always averaged around 400 hrs a year on all of my past machines.

BX24, 18 months old with 140 hours...have been using it for mainly moving dirt (bought 30 tandem loads and had to move it from front of lot to about 300 ft in the back yard to fill gully) and clearing little garden tracts every now and again. Every time I move the dirt it reminds me of the train...I think I can, I think I can, I think I can :D. I have a little over 4 more tandem loads left...

2003 L3130 with 624 hours as of yesterday. Mainly used for land clearing, tilling, backhoe work and water hauling.
L225 (around 1976?) with 306 hours. Bought with 200 hours showing on hourmeter in 2005. Lawn mowing duties on 6 acres.
1943 2N with ???? hours. Rebuilt motor in 2004-have about 15 hours since. Just used for snow plowing at property 100 miles away. At this rate the 2N will outlast my grandson....

L3710 w/ 619 hours and 5 years old. I put a lot of hours on it the 1st few years and a lot fewer recently. I probably average 50 hours a year now that I have the Bobcat excavator. It has taken a lot of the work load off the tractor.
Thinking of switching back to using the Kubota to run the log splitter though and that will put some more hours on it....
