Hours/Year

/ Hours/Year #21
21 hours on my gear drive B7100 from late may to mid july of last year
80 hours on the B7100HST from last july to this july
12 hours on the B7610 that I got this july.

Total of 113 hours in about 14 months, so an average of 96 hours/year.

Last year, I used it for some landscaping work, 44 post holes for a fence, and this past spring moving about 20 pallets of firewood. I also spread and leveled some dirt at a friends property.

This summer, I did some post holes for my inlaw's deck.

I'm almost done with the major amount of landscaping on our little 1 acre property, and processed much more firewood than needed for one year this past spring, so this next year will be light on hours, as once the landscaping is done, my main uses will be snow removal (we got a total of about 14" last winter -- less than normal), moving firewood, and property maintenance, (spring mulch spreading mostly). I would guess I might get 20-25 hours / year after this. We do have some smaller landscaping projects in mind that might ad some hours, and I might rip out and redo some sections of lawn that are >80% weeds, and need some regrading/leveling anyway.

I believe that the B7610 has an engine-RPM based hour meter, so hours will rack up more slowly. I typically run it at 2000 RPM for FEL work, and less than that when just moving things with it (PTO power is 2600 RPM).

HeY Keith Good work. Aren't you a lil young to be on here.
LOL.

I bought mine with 71hrs two years ago and now it has about 235hrs. I feel like I use it a good bit but I guess it is on the lower side here. It was well put by a previous poster to turn it into days. I spent about 3.5 days on the tractor per year. It's a great but short vacation.

Put right at 100 hours on my BX23 over one year...A lot of that was backhoe time pulling stumps and trenching.

I've owned 3 tractors since 2001. I put 600, 700, and 75 hours on them. So that's about 1375 hours, or 172 hours per year.

Like most others, I'm not as young as I'd like to be. I think when you realize that fact, you're officially old.

My wife and I work hard and play hard, both licensed engineers and we own our own consulting engineering firm specializing in commercial land development. We've been graced with the ability to buy a rediculously expensive lawn mower and I've made the most of it, I'd like to say. Though not as much, recently...recession has hurt business.

Another few years and the kids will be able to be outside while I'm operating the equipment (something my wife still won't allow), so it'll be LOTS of fun then!!!

Darn it, I'm actually vaguely able to remember a few things about the year Keith was born. I like to think my immaturity keeps me young though.

Hi All,

I don't post much here, but I'm curious. How many hours do you put on your tractors per year. The main reason I have a tractor is to get in and out of the property in the winter. Other than that I use it once in awhile for mowing or digging a post hole or as a really nice wheelbarrow. Don't get me wrong, I love the tractor and couldn't live where I do without it.

It was about 4 years old when I bought it. It's a 1999 model and had mid 300's hours on it. I'm about to turn over 600 hours now so I've only averaged about 40 hours per year. At this rate the tractor will outlast me, and that's a good thing. I don't feel like buying another one.

Replying to my old post for 2009. Wow, I've only put about 140 hours on the tractor since I posted this over 7 years ago. 20 hours per year isn't much is it? That's garden tilling and snow removal basically with a little brush mowing and wood hauling on occasion. Still glad I bought and couldn't live here without it.

I have been on my L3700 a few times in the past couple weeks. It's got 210 hours now and is about 6 years old. My Skidsteer has 600 +\- and it's almost 10 years old. I had a BX22. Before the L3700, and it was used as a mower most of the time and that one got about 60 hrs a year.

It is interesting to consider this subject. I have put on about 70 hours a year - averaged out. Some years a lot more than other years. I am finally getting to a point where I consider myself a skilled and safe operator - though the "pucker" factor needs calibrating from time to time when I am working in the hills. And I find I am able to figure most things out - eventually - re upkeep and maintenance (with a lot of valuable advice from this forum). The number of hours have dropped off as the major projects have been finished - but I still enjoy every bit of seat time I can get.

The uses have been for mowing, grading, landscaping, taking out and moving trees (logging chains a great help), moving boulders (a lot of boulders - some had to be dragged on a skid), moving dirt in and taking dirt out, putting in fences, hauling material, trenching, road building and more.

I'm around 240 hours, it will be 2 years old at the end of next month.
Most of the use is haying type work. I did put a lot of hours on it building my barn though.

I've owned five Kubotas over the last 36 years. They were used mostly for mowing, snow removal and road maintenance on our 1.25 mile private road. Like the OP, I consider a tractor a necessity of life here in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains.

B7100HST Owned 16 years, averaging 60 hrs/yr
L3010HST Owned 2 years, averaging 70 hrs/yr
L3030HST Owned 5 years, averaging 70 hrs/yr
L3430HST Owned 12 years, averaging 75 hrs/yr
M5800HST Owned 7 months with 80 hrs so far.

Bought used just over 5 years ago at 591 hours. Now about 925 hours, so about 66 hours / year. Mowing and snow, but some ground clearing also with the rachet rake. Snow and rachet rake work are way more satisfying than mowing, but any seat time is better than no seat time.
