kubota m4500
Hi, While using my kubota m4500 on a food plot sat. My transmission fluid started to overheat. I noticed it when it started to leak (or spu) up from the gear shift rubber boot and on to my leg. I was using a disc harrow and running in low / 4th gear with high rpms. The disc harrow is 6ft wide. When i noticed the fluid leaking i stopped to check the fluid level, it was very milky looking and seemed to be under a small amount of pressure. i returned later and checked the fluid level and it was ok. Is this just needing of a fluid changing or could it be other problems ? thanks!!!

Check your hydraulic fluid cooler and radiator for plugging. The fluid cooler is usually in front of the engine radiator.

I thought milky meant water in the oil, and since the water would go to steam as 212 degrees, and steam makes pressure ...

Sounds like water in the oil to me also. Is the machine parked outside?

Air bubbles in the oil can make the oil look milky. Bypassing through the pressure relief valve for long periods can create air bubbles in the oil and cause it to heat up. Water in the oil as stated earlier can make it milky looking. If its bubbles you can take a sample and let it sit for a few hours and if it clears up it was air bubbles. If you think it may be moisture then you can do a crackle test..

You have water in the oil. Water makes the oil do strange things. Change it, run it a few hours and change it again.

I'd also check the vent to make sure it's not clogged.
