Help with Paint Job

I'll state this again, so we're absolutely clear:

Organic vapor cans on face masks will not remove Isocyanates.

You are NOT safe using anything except a supplied air respirator for any isocyanate based paint, that includes most two part epoxy paints, and any paint with a hardener.

Theres no reason to nearly kill yourself when you can build the bathroom fan respirator for less than $50. Do a google search using the keywords 'bathroom fan respirator' to get some links.

Stay safe out there! There's some real nasty stuff in modern paints. I've heard of people dying who paint in enclosed spaces without supplied air respirators.

Thanks for the reminder.. but I wasn't merely refering to the small disc style face maskes. We also utilize some mining rigs that use the big canisters on the back, some with fan powerd circulation. These are essentially NBC setups... Is ISo cyan... completely non-filterable?

Soundguy, not too long ago, conscientious shop owners and related industries tried to follow manufacturers recomendations concerning air purified cartridges. The use of color coded cartridges was the norm. As the products (paint) became more sophisticated and complex - air purification became less efficient, unsafe and finally recognized as dangerous.
IMO, This was the wakeup call for OSHA. Their hard-nosed approach created a mad scramble for shop owners and related industries to comply with over complicated and vague definitions. One example of this was quick reference charts, laminated and now plastered on booths, mixing stations, breakrooms and even restrooms. The check marks indicated the appopriate cartridge for specific products. Perfect. Clear and concise-unfortunately journeyman painters were still dropping like flies. The biggest problem was not identifying that substrates, bonding clears, sealers, base coats, top coats used on one project required several and different cartridges.
OSHAs', slightly knee trembling observation, that SCBA principles utilized in HAZMAT / HAZWOPER emergency response teams were essentially addressing and overcoming the same problems.
SCBAs' like Scott Air Packs, and all others are not safe due to the respiratory trigger that creates the sealing surface to temporarily open.
It is my opinion that there is no substitute for a remote stationed positive pressure air supply.
I apologize for not really answering your question(s).
I think it was the CEO from 3M (Navarro?) pertaining to air purification - who said; You don't need a Phd, but a Masters hardly makes you qualified.

As I over looked your last post.....I am referring to a paint application environment.

Soundguy, from what I've been told, ISO-cy is not filterable. Until they come up with something that will filter it, it's too risky. One exposure you might be ok, but the second one, you will probably have an allergic reaction to it.
