Kubota B2620
Ok folks. Two issues today first time mowing. Hopefully this is something I'm doing wrong and maybe you guys can give me a hint. Brand new B2620 with 60"MMM and FEL. Loader is off for mowing today. No problems with that.

1. Sometimes tractor will not start. Turns over fine... Spits a little diesel smoke and dies. I try six or seven times and it eventually fires. Let glo plug heat for about 5 sec each time.

2. Mower deck keeps dropping on it's own. Set it at 3 and one dot... Mowing along and bouncing around a bit... My yard is not that rough... Deck dial drops to about 2 1/2.

Any ideas? Can't even finish mowing right now due to frustration.

Thanks in advance.

It's brand new? Call the dealer!

I suspect some safety switch is the cause for shutting the engine down.

I'm sure a Kubota owner will be along shortly, but you might post this in the owning operating sub forum instead of buying/pricing.

It looks like you talked to Les this morning, did you get this resolved? That is not normal.

How do you like the mowing quality (quality of cut) with your new tractor. Minus the dropping deck problem of course.

I'm very interested in the same tractor and curious how well it mows. That will be it's primary job at my place.

That's the surprising thing. I assumed the cut would not be as good as my JDX520, however, I think it is actually better. The JD sometimes left uncut lines when turning tightly. With this tractor I get none of that. My guess is that my radius is not quite as tight therefore the blades are tracking more consistently and not causing the uncut lines.

I mowed yesterday and the grass was very long. Had the deck set at around three inches. The dispersement of the grass was much better than with the JD. It seemed to spread clippings very evenly, whereas the JD tended to throw the grass in a solid thick line.

The evenness of the cut is outstanding from what I can see when mowing on a straight line. Some of my yard is a little rough and this tractor is much smoother so I think the deck bounces less giving a more even cut. Being a new tractor, the blades are very sharp also. Although I did regularly sharpen the blades on my JD.

As long as I can get the deck height adjustment fixed, I'll be happy!

PS: Make sure your deck is properly level for best results!

Thank you so much for your reply! Sounds like it's a great mowing machine!!! Okay now I really want one! Lol!

I'm trying to decide between a B2620 and a BX2360. Price is a big issue for me. I have a L3830 so the BX maybe big enough. But I like the big tires on the B!

Dealer prep on the new machine?

I noticed from your pictures that your mower deck is one of the earliier ones since it has the regular anti-scalp wheels instead of the wider, and less adjustable rollers that Kubota is using now. I think I like your set up better than the new one, but that is perhaps why the mower slipped through the tech bulletin upgrade. Your dealer should have the bulletin.

I didn't know they made a different version of the deck. The tractor was just uncrated... Wasn't even sitting on the lot from what I understand so I'm not sure why it would be an old design.

Tech is at my house working on the deck as I type this. I'll keep everyone posted on the resolution.

I would also like to know about the 2 deck versions because my brand new 2320 has the same antiscalp wheels and the OP.

As a point of clarification, I believe my mower manual states that the 54" version of the deck has the wider different style anti-scalp wheels. I have the 60" MMM with the rotating rollers. We aren't confusing the two are we? Just a thought.

I don't have my manual on me right now so I can't reference it at this time.

Mine is also a 60" and I believe the exact same deck as yours.

You might have a very good point there since I haven't seen both a 54", and 60" together, and I believe that thee last two new decks I have seen were the 54". The rollers I've seen lately are 3" long, or so cylinders, but that might very well be just one size mmm that is set up that way.

Yep... Just verified in the manual. Page 5. 60" MMM has 4 pivoting rollers on the corners and one wide non-pivoting in front center. 54" MMM has 5 wide non-pivoting rollers.

Went out and tested the tractor deck this evening. Everything seems to be working well with the deck hold position. There is definitely no play in the adjustment knob anymore. When I get a chance to mow the entire lawn then I'll know for sure.

Thanks to Messicks for the great service!

Anyone know how to take the slop out of the knob? Mine is not as bad as you explain but it is a little loose and if i have it in the "top" position after a while of useing the loader without deck installed i notice it moves to a numbered position which then lets the deck arms drop.
