Help please...I can get the Razorback attachment about halfway onto my TC 30 "easy connecting" PTO, but it seems the bearings on the Bushhog connector won't retreat far enough to get to the "locked" position. I had been keeping the tractor in a lean-to up until this winter when my wife needed room for extra hay (which by the way we didn't need for her "hard winter coming") for the horses. I've tried greasing. white grease (spray), poking with a screw driver but I can't seem to budge them. Any thoughts on how to get it on / off easily? I've been using 2 years without issues up til now. I'm also wondering if the spring coil is not working correctly. My next resort would be to call my local dealer and face the service charge fee....

This is a good example that it would behoove people to post their location.
A knowledgeable person might live just down the road.

You have done most of the things I would try. The only other thing I could sugest would be soaking it with PB blaster and letting it sit and soak for a day.

I'm not sure what an "easy connecting" PTO is. Is it a spring loaded collar that pulls back axially? If so, does the collar pull back as far as it did when it was working properly? If all else fails, can't you just take the PTO shaft to the dealer? If they won't tell you how to fix it, find another dealer. You can just untelescope it, if that's a word, and take in the tractor end of the shaft. Sorry if this answer is too basic but we have no idea of your experience with equipment or your mechanical inclination.

Applying heat will do wonders to un-stick stuff where all else fails. A propane torch and a little tap with a hammer can work wonders on stubborn equipment.

I would soak it first like HP said. If that doesn't work, try taking it apart, cleaning and greasing it. I've taken one apart before and it wasn't that difficult, just don't lose the balls.

Thanks to all the replies. I got it attached and we're playing together again like we used to.

After greasing it, I let it set while I simmered down. It must have worked because I got to go on within a minute or two. I do think the balls were stuck and it proves to me that I need to regularly apply grease to the fitting.

Mine sits outside all the time. First use in the spring, I usually have to whack it with a hammer a few times to get things loosened up. Then put grease inside and out and I'm good for the year.

wptmd I had the same thing happen to me when I couldn't disconnect the brush hog one day. I thought maybe because since I was in reverse a lot I musi have hit something that put it under pressure.

Well I got tired hunching over it so after disconnecting everything else I just pulled the female end of the drive shaft off the brush hog.

Now I had some work space, layed a pipe on the coupler and beat it with a hammer. Finally got it so the button would push in/out and the coupling would move an eighth of an inch back and forth. btw all this time I'm sitting on a bucket so it's become less of a hassle.

After awhile it came off now I'm careful to always paint the inside of the couplers with oil a few times a year and always a few days before I use 'em.
