He works twice as hard and it takes him twice as long to get stuff done.

For the third time...

Rent a dozer to clear and cut a road.
Rent an excavator to clear stumps.
Buy a used tractor to maintain.

A buddy was going to rent a track hoe or dozer until he found out the rate was about $6,000 per month and you are limited to 160 hours. He decided to buy a dozer instead. I keep trying to convince him to buy a track hoe inside, but he is pretty set on a dozer.

Around here a dozer or mid sized excavator rents for $2,000 per week.

That leaves $16K for a tractor, which would get a decent mid sized used unit.
