CK4010 with backhoe. When hauling this is it better to have the hoe in the locked position (with the pins or locking latch engaged) or set the bucket on the trailer floor?

On the deck and separately secured with a strap or chain. Same for the loader bucket.

+ 1 on this. Always have your weight (if you can) resting on the trailer floor.

Thanks all. Figured out the transport pins and latches are for driving the machine to and from work areas, not towing! :)

It’s DOT approved to have the locking pins in place and transport like that without chaining the boom. I always hauled mine on the trailer deck. My 310 must be hauled with the boom down because it’s over 11’ tall with it up.

I lower everything to the deck. Mine is light enough to use the pins, but in an oh crap situation, the lower center of gravity keeps everyone safer.

Per the FMCSA, loads under 10,000 lbs do not require the buckets to be independently tied down. Two tie downs are required (same rules as automobiles). Non-articulating equipment or articulating equipment with transport pin over 10k require four tie downs on the main unit and implements/attachments lowered to deck and secured, independently.

Before I bought my deck over I always hauled my m62 with boom up and pinned. It was nice. Now with the deck over I have drop it and chain it. 11??

Legal height is 13 feet 6 inches. What is all the concern about 11 feet?

I would guess they have a low clearance bridge they must navigate under. Legal height will keep you safe on Interstates, but local streets are not so regulated.

Local streets are so regulated. Anything below 13’ 6” better be posted as such.

My 310 is that tall by itself and I don’t have a 2’ trailer.

My m62 is 11 2 sitting on ground. My deck is 34 in, so it puts me at 13 11. With boom down its like 11 8.

Looks weird not using apostrophes.
