GWT Fast Cat 1

IF one were to get a QH, is there any reason to NOT get the GWT Fast Cat 1?

IF I bought one, I would want to buy ONCE and be done with it.

The Fast Cat comes with top pin and top hook adjustment pins instead of bolts. Comes in black. Has no max weight rating. No bushings.

Only downside I am seeing is it's made in India instead of USA.

I like the lower auto locking of the Advanced Earth QH but it states a weight limit of 900lb.

Also, for reference, I have NO 3pt attachments YET.

I almost think you should be looking for a Cat 2 hitch. This would give a much wider choice of future attachments. Cat 2 lower arms could be sleeved as required to handle Cat 1 implements.

My first tractor had Cat 1 lower arms. I thought that would be adequate. I soon found that this was a mistake. Most all the jobs I do require the weight and strength of a Cat 2 attachment.

You may want to wait till you get a 3 point implement. Perhaps wait till you have more than one 3 point implement. The main reason for having a QH is to make swapping implements easier. Unless your first implement is something you want to install and remove frequently, why bother with a QH at all?

Just my experience, but it hasn't been too challenging to swap implements without a QH. I bought one shortly after buying a new tractor in 2002. That tractor was replaced in 2012 and that tractor was replaced in 2018. The QH sat unused in the shed through three tractors until very recently. It was obvious the QH wasn't ever going to be used as intended by me, so it became a donor for a project. I made a QA frame to mount my York rake to reach into places like the fence row. The goal was to run the rake in and under stuff when backing the tractor in wasn't feasible. So a little work with the plasma cutter and welder finally made the QH useful. I have some other implements that could see use on the front of the tractor, but the main thing was the York rake.

EDIT TO ADD: The wheels have always been more of a bother than a help, so you can see in the background they've been sawed off. If I ever need to remount them, as they said in The 6 Million Dollar Man, we have the technology.
