GT235: Engine bogs way down/stalls out when engaging PTO

I think my post title describes the issue; I always rev the engine up to full throttle before PTO engagement but lately the engine stalls out. It takes 5 - 6 tries before success. Parts counter guy said possible fuel delivery issue? Looking for input, and thanks...!

I should add that I have bypassed the seat switch. Also, if I use the choke I can prevent the engine from stalling out when engaging the PTO.

Sounds like fuel delivery. The engine is gas powered? Not fuel injected?

I never engage PTO at full throttle. Always just enough engine speed to avoid stall. Really hard on your tractor and/or the attachment doing full throttle engagement.

Just use the choke.. if that works.. it does for me when engaging the PTO on my 425 when the mower deck AND the power flow blower are both connected AND the engine is cold. Once warmed up, no problem.

Could be fuel but also the governor. Might be dirty or binding and not responding fast enough. Check the linkages and springs. Try some good carb cleaner before you do anything.

Yes an ounce or two of Seafoam in the fuel tank with some fresh fuel and before you know it it will be less finicky.
