I have a piece of shiny aluminum diamond plate. I think it would make a good insert for the grille guard, but concerned it might cut down on air flow.
I need to get something in there before I run a limb thru my grille.

I don't have an insert in mine yet. I don't think I would use anything solid. I would go with expanded metal or similar so engine can breath. I think there is a thread with pics on here.

I would think that, so long as you don't have the insert right up against the radiator fins, the air will still move through the radiator just fine. A tractor doesn't move fast enough to rely on air moving into the radiator, it just depends on the fan.

I went with the expanded metal;after I speared my battery and lower grill.I prefer this over a solid piece of metal.
If you go with the metal;drill a bunch of small holes for a little better flow.

What is the thickness of your expanded metal and is it 1/2" or larger expanded metal?
