I was headed down into the woods to do some work this morning when I found a fallen tree blocking my way. It must have come down Saturday afternoon in the high winds we had with a strong cold front that came thru. Went from 55 to 35 in about an hour. If this wasn't a grapple job waiting to happen I don't know what is.

Just grabbed onto it with the grapple

Cut it off

And carried it to the side where it wound not be in the way.

As we all know having a grapple can turn a hassle into a minor nuisance. And give you an excuse for posting pictures.

My thought on the humongous chunk - it takes somebody pretty skilled with a chain saw to bring down a tree that size. You hear that critical - "crack" - you move to that predetermined place of safety. Should things go wrong - tree falls on "alternate" path - I hope your place of safety is still safe.

The Tree had a pretty good lean to it as a result of the wind off the pacific ocean. I know of that go to safe place you speak of.
