Root rake = clamshell I presume. I try to avoid the term root take as some folks call open bottom grapples root grapples or root rakes too.

All of these terms are very "reigonal" This is what I know as a "clamshell"

Ya. While Island's proposed nomenclature might be more ideal I think most people I know would call Brown Dogs attachment a 'Root Grapple.' So, when in Rome...

The various names of things are quite confusing w/o a picture.

To me this is a root rake. Could be on a tractor too but not a grapple. Maybe root grapple would be a better name.
