Grand L5740, cost to add remotes and third function?

What about the cab makes it harder getting off and on? The doors? If the deal is that good remove them. I just got a L6060 and had Kubota's third function added for grapple and two rear remotes, one with float which cost a little more. Have not use the rear remotes a lot (only have 22 hours on it) but have used a rear offset flail mower on it for say three of those hours and have no noticed any issue with the rear remotes not holding. Have seen this warning else where so am watching for it.

I have Kubota and Jd with rear remotes and they are direct operated by cable from lever. These are if not mistaken electric control and would have to be as short as the levers are with maybe three inches of lever for I have to use fingers only to operate them. Have no feeling in their operation either.

As to price on this machine brand new the Kubota third function and each of the rear remotes were "about" $1,000 each installed. One rear remote is standard and one float.
The hydraulic offset on a flail really doesnt have much pressure on it once it moves the flail. There are some minimal lateral forces it has to deal with, but it's not under constant load. If you flipped the machine on its side & it was trying to hold the flail up (pretty much like TnT), it would be fighting gravity every second. 0 issues with hydraulic side shift on my flail on a full days mowing even when the same valve let's my sidelink completely extend in under an hour.

Agree, but have run my mower vertically and no issue can detect. Have left it sitting with tractor off also. Have not checked both valves for holding. Not sure who posted this issue with Kubota, it may have been you but was aware there is an issue.

I've gone through 7 valves on my L4060HSTC trying to get 3 that hold well & have finally given up. I heard similar stories from others before I got mine. Loader valves hold for weeks. Rear remotes more like an hour.

I now have 2 separate types of solutions for you and your T&T drifting issues.

Either The DPOCV for $120 each shipped to you or an electric on-off valve with control grip for $300 to be used at the coupler of the rod end hose. The control grip has a lit maintained switch. This shows you that the valve is either open of closed and is the solution recommended to still be able to use the float feature when-if needed.

I have one rear remote and the third function, both Kubota kits, on my L5740. I have run a skid steer hydraulic post hole auger off the 3rd function for two big projects, including a large deck and approximately 70 post holes on a fence project. It definitely beats digging holes by hand or even with a backhoe for post holes, but it doesn't spin the auger as fast as a skid steer with high flow hydraulics. If it's an implement that you would be using every day where time is money, I would find another way. But if it's for occasional use, it works great. I didn't notice any issues with the third function valve overheating or anything like that. I've also used 3 point hitch augers, and the hydraulic auger is much better as far as control and the ability to easily reverse the auger if it gets caught on a rock. The ability to provide down pressure with the loader is crucial in hard ground. Also, at least with the L5740, I don't believe you can have mid pto AND third function, since the return hose for the third function ties in where the mid pto would attach. If I remember correctly there was a thread on TBN and I believe the cab models all have the mid pto gear installed, but the open station models would have to be ordered as a factory option, otherwise the tractor would need to be split to install the internal gear. If the tractor already has the internal gear for mid pto, the pto shaft assembly simply bolts on.

I'll concur with the PHD thing. Grands can get 15hp at best through their hydraulics. The smallest Grand probably gets 30ish HP via the PTO. So there is more power & speed there. But downpressure & reverse make a SSQA PHD nicer to use despite having noticably less RPM & power.

No issues with my 3rd function holding up on projects averaging a few dozen 3-4' deep holes with my 12" auger. I couldnt spin much bigger of an auger though.

Why a mid pto on a tractor that size?

I wanted the ability to run Kubota's front mount snowblower and or flail mower. I'm correct in that both get their power from the mid PTO?

Honestly, I didn't realize the doors on the cabs were easy to take off. Is it a project to remove / reinstall them, or no big deal? My only other worry with the cab is I have a lot of low hanging trees. I could trim everything up, and might be fairly safe with a cab at that point. There are a lot more cab machines out there for sale, and the pricing on used machines with or without cabs is very close. Unfortunately, the tractor with the cab, factory hoe, 1 owner with under 1,000 hours was sold. I think he wanted 27k for it, seemed to be a really good price from what I am seeing.

The mid PTO is what I need to run a front snowblower, correct? I'm looking for clarification on the statement you made about not being able to have the mid PTO and the third function. Good info on the cabs supposedly always having the mid pto gear, lots to learn about these Grands.

I didn’t know front snow blower hooked up that way, I figured they were hydraulic driven. Learn something new every day. I have L3940C
