EA has great customer service! When I ordered it, not more than 5 minutes later I had phone call verifying that I made the order, that I knew what I was ordering (size, couplers, etc.) and that it was expected to arrive in 6-8 weeks.

6 weeks would have been December 19, so they were over a week early, which I did NOT expect considering holidays.

By the time I got it on the tractor it was full dark, but went and picked up some small trees we'd knocked over. I'm in love. :D It's so muddy right now I can't get any traction to dig in, but I could still feel the tractor trying to work it. :)

It's dark and cold, so pics will have to wait until tomorrow PM. Besides, my imp would be very angry if she wasn't in them. She asked if today was going to be a tractor day when I told her were going to get it. ;)

The third function was put on by the dealer, not sure who made it. But it works. :) I do notice that if I try to curl and open/close at the same time it doesn't. Or I wasn't hitting the buttons very well.

Is it a single lid or double lid, I know it was dark but get some pics. The grapple is the best attachment for a tractor enjoy.

Enjoy! A grapple is my most versatile attachment and I hated taking it off for the winter as I doubt it would be good for snow removal.

Be careful using it. I doubt there is another fel implement that will allow you to damage your fel as quickly as a grapple. It will let you put twisting forces on the fel that it just isn't engineered to withstand. Don't ask how I know.

Heavy hammer: The 55" is single lid, all the way across, but has 2 pistons, one at each end.

Ray: I'm aware, and will try to remember. What I need it to do 'soon' is rip up small trash trees (4-6' height) and the accompanying brush, then haul it to a pile. So hopefully more front to back forces than side to side.

I love my grapple. It is one of my most used tools for now.

is it just me, or do those bottom tines seem awfully short? I guess that's the difference in a root grapple and a regular grapple? I'm trying to figure out which I want, this one's a root grapple, right?

it's still very awesome, wasn't knocking it. I'm sure you'll get some great use out of that

I don't know enough to comment, but I am sure that EA can tell you what you need based on what you plan to use it form.

I am loving this thing! However, the dealer is having fits with my hydraulic hoses. Can't close the grapple right now. Should be fixed tomorrow. :)

I just tied in to my second pair of rear remotes and had to figure out which lever to use to switch from back hoe to grapple. Not as handy as a third function and thumb switch but it works.

Generally this type is a root grapple. The ones with the longer bottom tines are rock grapples. Not really sure about the nomenclature, as I have a root grapple but pic up massive rocks all the time :). The advantage of the root type is you can use it kind of like a mini scarifier to get a few inches below the dirt and grab small roots and brush. To pick things up, you just curl out, get over the object, go down then close the jaws. It works fine once you get the hang of it.

Oh and congrats to the OP on the grapple. Glad to hear EA has their turnaround time on the mend and you have a new toy. Any day working the grapple is a good day.

If you can push them to get true 3rd function with a switch that actuates the grapple separate from the bucket curl and at the same time, that would be best. Diverter or using a rear remote is less than ideal, but of course still works.

thank you for the explanation.

Yes, it's a root grapple, which is what I need to dig out brush and small trees. If they were much longer, I'd dig in so deep the tractor would get stuck.
