5F and clear @ 05:15, calling for a high of 33F for the day.

Refilled hopper feeder and scattered some seed for the ground feeders after the mob that was out there dissipated a little. Lots of black birds ... of various types.

One suet feeder was empty but I forgot to take an insurance cake out when I went, will handle both of those later today ... as the other suet feeder is not far behind.

Did some clean up and organizing in the garage.

Paid a couple of bills.

Finished up Menards order and got it placed.

Got cut studs hauled downstairs.

Put some dry food and warm water out by the crate The Woman fixed up for the feral cat that has been hanging around.

Got joints on the foam board taped up then ran a bead of caulking along the bottom to seal it.

Did some additional cleaning and organizing to make room to build the next 8' section of stud wall on the floor.

Ran down to Menards and picked up the order after The Woman got home, noticed that the neighbor apparently had been by and plowed the driveway ... have to mark him and his clan down for a couple loaves of The Woman's pumpkin bread ... (y)

The enchiladas were hot in the oven by the time I got back.

After dinner I cleaned the plastic case for the little floor jack, also cleaned off Mom's Kennedy tool box and Grandpa's old tool box ... from when he worked at The Firestone and built the tanks and bombs that won this country war ... (WW II, specifically)

Then back out to the garage for an additional (extended) cleaning/organizing session with good progress.

Took a little break from that and came inside and did some trimming and clean up on all the plants and gave them all a good drink.

Then sanded off a nice laminated 3/4" pine board that I will use to mount the Cycle Sensor on.

Came inside and killed off the last of the enchiladas ... ;)

Have one bucket of stuff from the garage to take downstairs and then I think I might grab a nap.

Hope everyone has a decent day ... (y)

Good morning TBN!!
19 this morning but warming to about 50. Rest of the forecast is calling for above average temp.

I worked on disassembling the magdrill yesterday. Turs out the actual drill is a Milwaukee. That was a nice surprise. Haven't got far enough yet to get to the wiring. Just removing decades of old grease from internal slides. Wiring today I think.
Started looking a bit for a magazine for the Marlin I was working on. It seems to be a post WWII model 80. Prices for them are ridicules, and that is for the newer models. I'll keep looking.
Got the dog out for a good walk. He's already getting pretty plump for my lack of wanting to walk when it's colder.
Not too sure about today yet but...

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!

21 but calm, heading to 43. Still been well below average everyday this month.

Buppies, that is a real nice looking Christmas tree...and Precious looks just that.

I think Della got into something on our hike yesterday...no one else there so I let her have a couple miles of free run before her swim...doesn't venture very far from me, but always finding something to sniff, and maybe lick up. She acted weird last night, and for the first time wanted to go out at 2am...we had a nice starlight walk and she did her business. Keeping an eye on her today.

Goats have a reputation of eating anything. But we raised them, and although they will bite at about anything, I found they were actually pretty picky about what they would eat. I think Labs are more like the reputation of goats.

Good morning, the low is 17 and going up to 28°F. Wind SW 6 mph. 40% chance of flurries. Later today and this evening they are calling for freezing drizzle. Oh joy:(

I think today will be an energy conservation day.

Have a safe day all

speaking of magdrills
and magnets...
don't wear an automatic watch near that magdrill, can affect the movement
those little baby magnets i bought made me wonder about shipping them back on the plane
and that was fine. But there are a few things even those baby magnets can screw up
compasses for sure

0.00525 gauss

that's the most you can bring on a plane
anyone have any idea how much that is?

Good Tractor Morning,
Ct, 20 to start going to 30. So technically better temps than yesterday. Tomorrow it looks like a bit of a break from the cold weather.

I was pretty beat coming home from being out in the cold all day yesterday, but I did get greeted by 2 of my grand kids that Kathleen was watching and we did give them supper before we took them home 🙏

Today I don’t plan on doing to much, our FD Christmas Party is this evening. I might have a beer , but honestly my alcohol consumption is minimal compared to years past 😉

I’m sure Kathleen will want me to vacuum or some other small chores around the house. I also have a pile of cardboard boxes out back that needs to be burned. That may be the big project for the day.

I’m thinking mostly Energy Conservation is on the agenda today 😉

Hope all have a blessed and safe day 🙏

16 outside right now, climbing to lower 40's. No wind, so far, that is a good thing.

Pipes seem to be OK in other house, adjusted heat lamp in crawl space. They dethawed themselves. Told daughter that if the temps are below 20's and there is a significant wind to leave the faucets dripping a little. Another project for the summer time is to seal up and insulated that houses crawl space a little better.

Burning wood like crazy now....have to let the wood stove die down a bit and remove some ash today.

That's all for the agenda other than real job stuff which is falling off the end of year cliff.

Hope all have a great day, be safe.

Scott, hope you can all toast a year of no injuries tonight.

as the chief vacuum-er here, I feel your excitement.

and since my bare feet felt a pebble this morning, time for me to do the same.
My Miele canister vac is really heavy, has a stupid cord storage arrangement where you have to
pry out the plug tucked in a cove (maybe I should attach a tennis ball to the end)
it is so powerful I have to turn it down or way too hard to push or pull. Not motorized so get that on carpet
and it wants to stay right there. Have found pulling it easier on my back. I'd rather pull it twice easily than push it
once hard. Suction is awesome, really wonder if it would hold up a bowling ball with a good seal

the "less noise" setting is usually my default. Expensive Hepa bags, feel like nice cloth, those Germans
don't fool around. Vacuum has a tank like feel.
like the early Electrolux vacs with the runners, before they got wheels.
That's my first memory. The case on the Electrolux was awesome, that shiny metal with
the big ribs. Swedes made expensive bags too, but electrolux bags not in the same league as Miele.
thankfully in my small place takes a long time to fill up a bag.
I usually change it out more by smell than anything.
smells dusty. No surprise.

beautiful pic Buckeye
reminds me to open the curtains on the sunny side

24 was low now 30 lots of forces at work, return flow bring warm air up cold air in retreat. While it will warm up cold will return

Good luck shopping Ron they will run you over. Years ago while in line at Kroger the older lady behind us kept hitting me in the tendon till it started bleeding. I turned around and said I was related to funeral home people and could get her in quick if she was in that much of a hurry. The entire line bike out laughing and she stopped my leg appreciated it.

Hope Della feels better today. Precious has to put everything in her mouth including stink bugs and lady bugs both getting spit out quickly

Prayers for all silent or spoken our Country

good morning, Cold for sure iPhone said 17 but with our elevation it is much lower I am sure

Would like to get a temp gauge to hang outside that I can see from inside. What I see on Amazon looks like low quality

Glows in the stove was good for starting a bigger fire that is going strong

Cody was in good spirit for the brisk walk and the driveway is safe from ice and snow.
The steps have been suffering the last few days because of the risk of slipping so looking forward to getting back to normal

Good morning TBN folks. Its a balmy 20 degrees out now and a high of 40 predicted today. Kinda sad since our snow base is so shallow and we've not seen above freezing temps on about 3 weeks. Looks like the warmish temps won't last long snd more snow moving in on Thursday. I'm running our 6x6 into the shop this am to hopefully get the power steering unit replaced. Its a bugger to plow snow without that working! Still plowed out the neighbor collage gals drives out who are all gone for Christmas break and still shopping for a replacement 4x4 atv.

I remember hearing the combine and running for my camera and the utv to get to the
end of my farm property on this day about 8 years back. Combine was coming right at me, as I stood on corner
of my property, so he will shortly be making a hard left.

the stickers say surf life is the best
but I'll always know farming life is the best
just have to be independently wealthy or be willing to spend
down your retirement as I was.

always amazed combines air intake filters didn't get clogged every hour with all that dust.
I think some have reversers/flushers?
sure have to be careful of low hanging limbs
