RS, I think you need to look into your productivity, really dragging lately,
not getting much done. I know your wife nags at you to get out of your recliner all day long.

that to do/got done list looks like the results of some strong coffee
as they say on the you tube test channels, very impressive

a few more presents came in, and I wrapped them, including a bamboo backscratcher for my older
brother who just needed a bunch of stitches on his back from skin cancer.
Down the road those stitches are likely going to itch, says the voice of experience.

with a shoe horn and a back scratcher, you can achieve anything
A back scratcher and stitches sounds like it could be a painfull situation.

had minimal expectations for lunch since last time I was at Plumsteadville Inn the banquet food
was horrible. This time lunch was awesome, real veal spaetzle made fresh, not frozen, and it was delicious.
That's the second time I've heard that, this month. Plumsteadville Inn was the place to be in the 1990's, esp. when they had live piano music from the same guy who used to perform at Jenny's (now Earl's). I used to frequent the place from probably 1980 - 2000.

But then it seemed to be on a downward slide all through the early 2000's, and my last several meals there near 2010 were so disappointing that we just stopped going altogether, 10 or 15 years ago. Glad to hear it may have turned around.

the backscratcher is for a year from now, in the summer, when those scars tighten up.

about ten years ago they took a chunk out of me the size of a deck of cards, between my shoulder blades.
A place where nothing reaches, except my bamboo back scratcher, used gently. So when my brother said
they just carved him up with a lot of stitches, figured this would be helpful.
as we get older we can't bend as far anyway

Winterdeere, I can only vouch for the veal. It was a large portion with lots of sauce.
had the rest I took home for an early dinner. yum

I think some chocolate mint icecream with fresh blueberries will top off the day

Good (Tuesday) morning. Overnight Low of 8C and it's presently 24.0C, clear & fairly calm.

Last evening's Parish Council meeting was good & productive, which will result in;

Today's 'tasks'. I'll stop off at the Shire Council depot to enquire if they have a 'cherry picker' for hire. There's nothing commercially available locally due to the relative geographic isolation of N.E. Tassie. Rural is rural. I'll then proceed to the Church and sand the exterior of the entrance door.

That's about it, take care all.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
QUESTION: The Church exterior doors were previously stained and then lacquered. The stain that I've bought for the doors are as good a match, colour wise, as available. It is a stain with oil.

Do I actually need to lacquer or varnish after that?

While I was futzing with the snow-push, I took another look at the three-point. The sway bars aren't keeping the hitch arms in, and as such, especially on the right hand side, rub against the tire. I'm afraid they do this even with an implement attached. The turnbuckles are turned all the way out (Which should keep them tight, if I'm not mistaken) but even with an implement, they still sway a good bit. When there's no implement, I keep a piece of cordage through the eyebolts and tied together to keep them tight and stop them from rubbing the tires. Any suggestions to keep them stiffer than suffer the sway would be appreciated!

Y'all stay safe out there and be well!
Prayers for all ailing and recovering!
I use a bungie (tarp strap) cord between mine and it keeps them in place. Even though I have a fast hitch on the rear I still have the bungie cord on.

Looks to me that BB is thinking it is about time you lit the stove. Now I can have a nice nap on this warm lap.

I have three 'it' cats here, two toms and a queen and none of them are lap cats. :(
The youngest tom just started sleeping on my headboard again. He hasn't done that for 2 years, ever since his brother disappeared.

The plowing is all done again. While I was plowing another inch came down. Both sides of the driveway are pushed back to the bush, hopefully I can keep them back until after the oil truck comes in mid January.

In the evening, every time I go to get up off the couch, I get the “Where are you going ?” …

Actually think it’s the Prednisone.

Coffee intake normal.

I’ve actually cut back - usually only 2 cups per day, but occasionally I’ll have a 3rd.

as they say on the you tube test channels, very impressive

Just trying to move things along …

Well done on all your snow blowing …

Good evening all. Had a problem last night with website going down and tonight had a cut issue and lost postings. 25ºF for the start, partly cloudy and light breeze. Light wind, moderate gusts, sky became overcast then cleared of late afternoon, and high temp was 48ºF. Made coffee to start day, office work and fire duty to get insert going, made oatmeal for breakfast, leaf control on front and back porch, town run for groceries, lunch (Chic-fil-A was closed due to water leak), new CO detector and passed on Christmas trees. Bike ride, short nap. I had trouble getting warm after ride.

Magnetic drills are hard on GFCI devices due to the stored energy in the magnet. It is also possible that your drill has an EMI filter and that has died. Personally, I just avoid using them on a GFCI circuit, but I'm sure one could rig up something with an EMI filter, if your doesn't have one.

I like the trick of hanging a tennis ball from the ceiling so that when you drive to the perfect spot, the ball just touches the windshield.

@daugen Gold star for being a good egg and taking care of your neighbors. One can't have too many good neighbors.

@sodamo Out of curiosity what does it cost to build a reasonable house in your area (not a Haole palace, just a normal for Hilo home)?

Off to the beach to let the dog run free in the ocean if there aren't other dogs around.

All the best,

Peter

Coulda sworn I answered this, but don’t see it. so
A quick check and here on the Hamakua coast found 1 vacate property under $200k, bur sure doesn’t look buildable. The next listing is over $300k. Of course there are $10k lots in Puna and HOVE, but, you’ld really have to want to live there. About$300sf to build a modest house. TBH we couldn’t afford it now. 20 years in, 3k sf house on21 acres, less than $400k.

good morning all
little warmer this morning, 20 going up to 34, warming slowly over next few days
only plans for today are an appt with local water company who is coming to refill my acid neutralizer.
I kept looking at the dark line on the tank thinking boy this doesn't use much at all.
well, no....that line apparently meant nothing because I just ran out.

got some new windshield wipers in for the car, I like the Bosch varieties, going to put them on today.
Sometimes the adapters can be confusing. When I looked at an old dealer bill and it cost over a hundred bucks
to replace them, figured that was dumb, plus I think Bosch makes better wiper blades.

I may take a quick run down to rv storage lot and see if I need to wipe snow off. Hopefully it will have slid off already.

David, I sold my 23 acre farm in NC for 500k. When I returned home, that would barely buy me a two bedroom townhouse here,
no single detached homes under 500 on market. So for me, at my age, renting turned out to be the best answer.

for many older folks, selling one's home and cashing out raises the money necessary for senior health care.

hope Dennis feels better, Frits's wife feels better, Holly has a good day, Dona has a good day
and no slips and falls today.

Coffee is brewing. 18° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 30° with some sunshine. Got a appointment for Sassy grooming yesterday. While she was there. I went to local pet supply store and found her a couple new toys. That was it for the day. Today I will be going to local Costco. Wish me luck that I do not get run over by a shopping cart.

Everyone stay well and safe.

Good Morning All.

Ron, drive that cart at Costco like a North Jerseyite approaching a tunnel entrance
tailgate and push them all out of the way...

there really is a failure in directional control in those places. People push their carts in all directions and on both sides.
You'd think you were in Delhi. Having lines on the floor with directional arrows might help

so many times I wanted to ask some distracted shopper
and what side of the road do you drive on normally?

reminds me I need to make another trip to my local Costco, they just charged me for another year's membership.
I try to get there right when they open.
reminds me of Christmas shopping at the malls in the old days when folks would charge in when the doors opened to get
that one hot toy.
And no more Toys R Us.
Actually that store is coming back in a few remaining Macy's and whatever malls are left too.

I like to look on Amazon to see what is the most popular toy.
this Christmas's hot toy seems to be a big pile of tiny magnets that you build stuff with
specifically the TOSY magnet pyramid stone

nice to see the good old slinky is still a strong seller

   / Good morning!!!! #215,700
I admit I did order the Tosy magnets for my niece's two boys, something to play with when
they come visit after Christmas. I did get that cake for them but what's Christmas without a toy.

which makes me wonder....
what could get wrecked by those magnets? Any electronics at peril, watches, Ipad, etc
