Good Afternoon! 90˚F, heat index 101˚. Partly cloudy.
My natural gas bill went up 100% (doubled) this month and it's getting hotter. I call them up and they sent a crew out this morning. At first they said everything was correct and the other guy that came out 2 weeks ago just did an adjustment to the index. Then they did a pressure test at the meter and found It was a 2lb pressure at the meter not 5lb. as the meter reading was adjusted to. the index adjustment was for for a 5lb pressure meter not a 2lb. I know confusing but the bottom line is he said I have been overcharged. Now I just need to figure out how to explain it to billing. The wrong (5lb) electronic meter was installed in 2009 using the 2lb conversion index.

Awesome Buppies.
When Sophie was in hospital from her accident we had our 1st boxer, a white male. Early on, I got permission to bring him to her room. He wasn’t a trained therapy dog, but i couldn’t bring him in more than few times a week as it would take me half an hour or more to get to her room between the ambulatory patients coming out to hallway and the non ambulatory calling us into their room. All with permission of the head nurse administrator. After he passed, I seriously thought maybe the new pup should be trained, but never followed through. Was always amazed how this 80 pound hulk of muscle could be so gentle.

Storms passed by with just a couple drops.
Humid today
Got post on deck1 moved to new spot to line up with deck2. Still need couple brace pieces and 4 pieces of trex rescrewed, had to remove and redo some. Will need to redo picture frame end, 1 will require new piece.
I about dropped over early afternoon, had to stop, took cold shower.
Went over mountain and got 1/2 bushel red haven peaches, and filled up on cheaper gas. Gas dropped on this side $.14 today, but was another dime lower over there.
Worked on deck more after getting home.
Since storm passed, might try to get some trex clips on later.

Was out measuring for line set length, looks like I need about 44-45 ft total. Will put AH in unfinished room upstairs (where current geo ducts pass through), about 5 ft in that room, gradual bend down to floor, drop thru floor to unfinished room below (where the geo unit now sits), turn 90 under joists (4 feet to garage wall) and go 24 more ft across garage ceiling, where it will run between the joists (unfinished ceiling), then 90 deg down 2x6 wall about 8-9 ft (unfinished drywall), then 90 deg out thru wall to condenser location. If I go with 50 ft precharged, that's 5 feet of slack to lose, which could weave back and forth between the garage ceiling joists so I end up with no extra coil outside. not sure if I want to try to bend it down thru holes in outside garage wall top plates, or just down a gradual bend and box around it (or notch the edge of 2x6 top plate).
I installed the original line sets for my house from the old upstairs location in our closet, down 2 floors in interior wall to basement, then across ceiling, so it's not like I haven't done it before.

still very humid out, so no more deck work tonight.

Kind of leisurely work day.

Got the CNC lathe setup to run the 2nd op of some tensile test coupons. Turn a .504" dia neck on 3/4" dia matl. They get pulled on a high end unit, that graphs the metal's curve.

Watched the radar as more rains hit the Guadalupe river watershed. Still sad. So many sad stories. So many still missing.

Son is hounding me to make a long pond rake to mount on the FEL of our tractor. Have 2 3/8" oilfield pipe. Wish I had a 3pt rake, but will improvise using/making my own scarifers in lieu of springy tines. Cut up a couple of pieces of 1/4" x 2 angle iron to mount to the bucket. Will take cutting the pipes on 1 end and drilling for a bolt for it to hinge on. Will need to drag out the saw, drill press, welder and go buy some hardware. Years ago, while we were waiting on the Big Boy steam train in Bryan TX, we found a few railroad spikes. There were many more but we only took a few. If I had about 4 more, I'd have enough to make scarifers. Also will need a cable setup to lift it.

My wifey texted me and asked if I could pick up a grocery order at 4:30, I said sure. So I didn't get to the store until 4:45 and they brought out the groceries. While there, I'm watching a big thunder storm blow towards me. Pulling out of the parking lot at 5pm, my wife texts me and said, don't forget to go by the pharmacy and pick up my mom's prescription. She already missed 1 day. So I'm an hour away and they close in an hour. Started praying to get there on time. The lights almost all turned green for me, and I sped by about 5 mph extra...I made it with 2 minutes to spare.

Also, on the way she called and said she heard noises coming from the a/c blower unit. Good grief what's next I thought. I told her to "turn it off entirely." Started praying some more. Turns out, a piece of insulation that was glued to the cover panel had started coming off and was trying to get sucked into the squirrel cage. Easiest a/c fix ever....took off the offending insulation (just to reduce noise from blower) it is kind of in its own cubby hole.
