Drinking first cup of coffee. 61° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 85° with mostly sunny skies. Did not get much done yesterday. Did stop at Ford dealer to get a quote on a Maverick. Must have gotten the worst salesman at dealership. Enough said. I did not buy a new car. Another day of rest for my left foot today after grocery shopping.

Everyone stay safe and well.

Good Morning All.

Ron, kinda cringe when I hear your dealership story.
Dealers make their money in the service dept primarily, so I guess there's not
as much priority to get good sales staff. The turnover in that business must be enormous.
Maverick is a wonderful truck from all the reviews, and gas mileage on hybrid is remarkable.
get the oversized mud flaps...stay cleaner on your country road.

that lily is awesome, a real blood red, you really nailed the focus.

73 and light rain, going to 83. Had hours of t-storms last night, with a lot of heavy rain. Widest lightning bolts I've seen, looked more like ribbons.

Got an unexpected call while hiking Della to the river...the phone tech wanted to come fix my fiber...a day earlier than rescheduled from the day he didn't show. When he arrived, a bucket truck followed...turns out it was a faulty fiber cable he had run under the house from the ONT to the jack outside.

Got a lot of pruning and string trimming done, and then "Miss Utility" came to mark the underground power line before the fiber gets buried...real nice guy, showed me how his detection equipment worked and I helped him mark about 100 yards...used half a can of red spray paint. Ron, he was driving a Maverick company truck and really like it.

somehow this popped up, why they think I might be a buyer for this...
but since the world's largest lawn mower showed up, fun to compare it to Popgadget's.
65hp Kubota running at 2700 rpm powering an all hydraulic mower.
about the same hp as Paul's tractor but I think his mower is very different. ? pto? wheel driven? sigh...bad memory.
Whoever owns Jacobsen now has been making this giant mower for a while. About 42k new , half that used
less than the tractor fully equipped but then only single function.

always wonder how much hp it takes to run some things.
from an efficiency standpoint, wonder how the gallons per hour of diesel this mower would compare to Popgadget's tractor at
same mow speed. I wonder if the engine rpm is different also.

just thinking outloud, but wonder if most efficient mower has no engine at all but is driven by friction
of its own rubber tires on the ground, like an old reel mower. Assume big tires or even tracks.
different kind of load on tractor, a pulling load on its own tires vs powering a big hydraulic pump or the pto.

I spent too many years with diesels with 2300 rpm top ends. Today's stuff simply revs a lot more.
so 2700 rpm isn't "fast" any more.
but there still is a reason why giant ships run on engines at 900 rpm. Has to last longer.
I bet full synthetic modern lube oil has enabled these higher speeds.

Bill doing nothing is a good skill. You are working on skill development today. ;)

Good morning TBN!!!

70 this morning with a little chance of rain this morning. Should cool off a little. Finally got some rain. .40 in the gauge. Not enough but we'll take it.
Got my tractor put back together. Had to pull it apart again because I didn't quite cover the retaining clips covered. Of course I found it after I had the RTV on it. Got it fixed and put the wheel on and test drive went well. Cleaned up most of that mess and then R&R for the rest of the day.
Not sure what is on the agenda for today.

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!

Good Morning Drew,
Reread your original question about if I had worked any countries during FD Field Day, I have worked 7 countries so far. It not on Field Day. That contest is a US event.

Sorry for the delay 😉

Good Morning TBNers,
Vt, 65 to start going to 80 with heavy humidity. The rest of the gang should be here late afternoon or early evening. Grandkids are excited about coming up to see Nana and Opa. Hope we can fill the bill. 😉

pm...I was out mowing for 3 hours of that 1 to 5pm timeframe, adjusting
GM Billy, the last time I was up here I spent a lot of hours on the tractor mowing the fields, I was ready to get of after it was all done 😉

The lawn around the house isn’t too bad but we were here less than a week and a half ago.

Need to get going, I’m having radio withdrawal this morning, I will need to listen to some W1AW code practice archives to get it out of my system 😉😁

Hope all have a splendid day 🙏

Two planes flew over an hour ago, I'm in S.Central Va.
By the time I got my phone on for pictures they were almost gone. Loud & strange looking but I think they were like this:View attachment 3686369View attachment 3686370View attachment 3686371View attachment 3686372View attachment 3686373
Osprey. They tested them out of New Castle County Airport in the late 80's early 90's. They would fly over us as we were building the first section of Rt 1. Noisy when they change blade position.

If I remember right they crashed one while hover testing on the airport.

good morning, 71 going to 85 sunny conditions starting around 10:00

Plumber replacing the water heater this morning

Appointment this after noon for retina yearly check. Worst part is to wait for dilation to reside so I can drive home. Bringing dark glasses

Rain that was forecasted did not amount to much

I'm p-ssed off.
Had an appointment at the hospital for some scans.
Dr sends me every year, so far so good.
It's at 7AM.
Half hour drive in, show up 1/2 hour early for registration.
Leave home before 6AM.
Messed my sleep up. When I used to work on a regular schedule I'd beat the alarm clock by 5-10 minutes. I'd set it mostly as a fail safe.
However these one offs mess me up. I was waking up every 30 minutes or less but I did beat the clock. Maybe 3 hours total accumulated sleep as I tucked in around midnight.
Get there and wait to register. Already a big line up.
Lady takes my I.D. and request form.
"Your appointment was changed to..." "They should have called you."☹️
No pressing issue, so that's to be thankful for but the inconvience factor.
What aboot the people who have to organize a ride...?
I'm just tired and cranky now.
Great day everybody.☺️

That dilation is something.
First time I had it I don't know how I got home.
Snow on the ground and bright sunshine.
Even though I have glasses that darken I could barely see.
I know better now but they should really warn first timers.😵‍💫😎

Massey years ago my father went to dentist he waited one hour in the chair. He then asked dentist when he came in was there emergency answer no was someone sick answer no overbooked. When the bill came my father sent him a bill for my father’s time. Alter that father never waited again. The dentist tore up both bills. Moral of story your time is just as valuable as the doctors. In today’s society this happens way too often

Morning all, 72 going to 84 and cloudy, more rain later.
Pool is full up, so we have had quite a few inches of rain in the last couple of days.

Was able to get out with the trimmer and do the side yard by the pool, the trench sides and a few other areas before getting rained out.

Lots of work to do once the rain stops, it it ever does. Another Wet July?

No ice cream for me :-(

Guess the fox and kits moved on as we have a lot of rabbits again.

Be well,
This fawn and mom have been running around here for a week, have others, but these two seem to stick around.

I left two milkweeds for the bugs, ans sure enough they showed up

My friends named their baby Maverick.

"Ford says the Maverick's 4.5-foot bed can fit up to 18 sheets of four-by-eight-foot three-quarter-inch plywood without having to load them at an angle."
Better have them tied in good....

Too wet to mow.
