somehow this popped up, why they think I might be a buyer for this...
but since the world's largest lawn mower showed up, fun to compare it to Popgadget's.
65hp Kubota running at 2700 rpm powering an all hydraulic mower.
about the same hp as Paul's tractor but I think his mower is very different. ? pto? wheel driven? sigh...bad memory.
Whoever owns Jacobsen now has been making this giant mower for a while. About 42k new , half that used
less than the tractor fully equipped but then only single function.
always wonder how much hp it takes to run some things.
from an efficiency standpoint, wonder how the gallons per hour of diesel this mower would compare to Popgadget's tractor at
same mow speed. I wonder if the engine rpm is different also.
just thinking outloud, but wonder if most efficient mower has no engine at all but is driven by friction
of its own rubber tires on the ground, like an old reel mower. Assume big tires or even tracks.
different kind of load on tractor, a pulling load on its own tires vs powering a big hydraulic pump or the pto.
I spent too many years with diesels with 2300 rpm top ends. Today's stuff simply revs a lot more.
so 2700 rpm isn't "fast" any more.
but there still is a reason why giant ships run on engines at 900 rpm. Has to last longer.
I bet full synthetic modern lube oil has enabled these higher speeds.
